5.0 out of 5 stars Use for everything, anywhere
I bought this timer about a year ago to warn me when my tea was ready. It is great for this and now for my laundry or just any reminder. I have two...one for home and one for the office. It has three ways to warn you: light, vibration or sound. You can use all or just one or two. I use the sound at home but only the light at work (so I don't disturb my co-workers) when my...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great, except for one flaw
I bought this as a timer for workshop use (cabinetmaking). Having the options of vibrate/buzzer/flashing light are very useful.

But the effete white-collar worker who designed this thing attached the belt clip not to the body of the timer, but to the sliding cover that holds in the batteries. So it's easy for a slight blow to just slide the timer off,...

5.0 out of 5 stars Use for everything, anywhere, April 17, 2007

I bought this timer about a year ago to warn me when my tea was ready. It is great for this and now for my laundry or just any reminder. I have two...one for home and one for the office. It has three ways to warn you: light, vibration or sound. You can use all or just one or two. I use the sound at home but only the light at work (so I don't disturb my co-workers) when my tea leaves need to be removed.

For placement, it has a magnet, clip to belt or your can set it on a table.

It's the only timer this flexible on the market so I get over the fact that the clip is attached to the battery slide (the one design flaw)!

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite timer ever, February 7, 2006

This great little timer has an alarm you can really hear! It's versatile, with an hours/minutes or minutes/seconds selection, and stands alone, clips (clothespin-style), or attaches to a metal surface with its strong magnet. It's a beautiful red, and its light flashes with the alarm. No chance ignoring this one. I may never again let a pot boil dry...

But the effete white-collar worker who designed this thing attached the belt clip not to the body of the timer, but to the sliding cover that holds in the batteries. So it's easy for a slight blow to just slide the timer off, leaving the clip on my belt and the timer on the floor.

2.0 out of 5 stars BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!, July 14, 2008

After reading the previous reviews I decided this was just the timer I was looking for. But it is probably the worst timer I own. The alarm is not loud enough to be heard more than three feet away and the vibration alarm is so weak I couldn't feel it in my pants pocket. The magnet works great so the timer isn't a total waste of money because I can put it on a metal surface and it adds color to surface. I would not recommend this product. I'm still in the market for a digital timer that actually has a loud alarm.

4.0 out of 5 stars Time Travel, May 20, 2007
By

The read-out is a good size & the alerts-light,vibration,sound-are pretty good, but the vibration is weak. It's easy to set the time intervals. I use it to time my walking & also in the kitchen. It's a neat item EXCEPT that the clip is screwy; its design wasn't thought out; I think the clip needs to be reversed on the battery cover & the cover attached differently. As it is now, the timer is difficult if not impossible to clip securely to your belt, shirt, wherever. The clip, attached to the battery cover, slips off the timer. If the clip were fixed so it was secure & kept the timer secure, this would be a perfect little item.

I needed a timer for doing meditation but most of the timers have a buzzer that is rather jolting especially if you have just finished calming your mind (or trying to). Anyway, I find that the vibration function works perfectly to let me know when time is up without fraying my nerves. Also it is very well-designed and easy to use.

We are using this for a motivator/reinforcer for a 5th grader not for cooking. However, the alarm was sufficient if that is your use.

Here were our requirements:
1) Light
2) audible alarm must be able to be turned off
3) effective but quiet vibration
4) must look cool

This timer meets all of those and more. This can count up and down. Can be set for minutes MM:SS or hours HH:MM. Alarm setting (audible, light, vibration) are on back and are small (so less tempting). Display is large and easily readable from some distance.

What would have been nice:
-Multiple timer function (e.g. T1, T2, T3, T4) so can track both how much time to transition and how long seated.
-A backlight

In any event, the vibration is subtle, as is the light. It was enough to get our attention, but could possibly be missed. It does have a magnet and small fold-out stand.

This is the exact same timer besides color (I bought both - mfr the same) as Polder Digital Timer with Vibrating, Audible, and Illuminated Alarm. Personally, I like the red.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for meditation, June 13, 2008
This review is from: CDN TM10L-R Digital 2-in-One Timer, Red (Kitchen)
I have been trying to find an inexpensive timer that is unobtrusive for meditation practice. I use this personally, and in my groups. The options-sound/light/vibration--are all excellent--gentle, but I prefer the vibration.

I was looking for something different than the usual 1 hour timer. This can be set, reset, carried with you, and works great. Highly recommend this product for the money. It has a multitude of uses from seconds to hours.

I needed a timer in order to know when to stop my meditation sessions. In addition to a sound alarm and a light to signal the elapsed time, it also has a vibrate option. I use this since it is the least abrupt and more soothing than the sound alarm.
The unit is solid and well-built. The numbers are big for easy viewing. It is easy to use, but be sure both plastic packaging pieces are totally removed from the battery compartment or else it might not work or only partially work. If you do that, you should have a good experience.
