In his book "CDO: Chief Daddy Officer", Chris Efessiou masterfully translates the skills necessary to being a successful entrepreneur to those that are important to being a terrific father. This is more than a prescription for a wonderful relationship with those that are most important in our lives, but a warm and gentle window into the bond that Christos was able to forge and grow with his own daughter, Persephone. As a former business owner, I found the book very insightful and heartfelt--I only wish that I had been able to read it while my kids were growing up. A magnificent book that I highly recommend to all those Dads (and Moms) in business who wish to build lasting relationships with their sons and daughters.

This is a unique book on parenting. Christos Efessiou, a highly successful entrepreneur and executive, believes that the personal strengths and interpersonal skills that are essential to exercising effective leadership also apply to being an effective parent. I've always believed this, and in his book CDO Chief Daddy Officer, he makes a strong case.

I love the way he gets right to the point, illustrating his message with stories from his experience of raising his daughter. There's so much to say that parents need to hear, and in this brief book he covers most of the major topics. And they do, indeed, have parallels to being a manager: goal-setting, planning, authority, communication, empowerment, team-building and accountability.

His writing is clear and straightforward, and it contains a lot of wisdom I haven't seen in other parenting books. Here are some of my favorites:

"Saying `Because I told you so' too many times is like saying, `Ask someone else' or `Find out some other way.' It is a fact of life that children will then ask someone else or find out another way, and at that point you will have lost your opportunity to influence your child."

"The problem is that too many of us do all our parenting when there is a disagreement or conflict."

"How often during the course of a week are we taking the time to instruct our children in an important skill or value?"

"Some parents have confused the need to encourage with the idea of getting rid of standards of behavior or performance altogether."

"If a teenager gets yelled at for missing curfew one weekend and has it overlooked the next, she will not realistically know what is expected of her, no matter what the `rules' are.

The book does an excellent job of weaving the personal story of Chris Efessiou as both a successful but busy businessman as well as a dedicated parent into an easy to read story that gives the reader a series of observations and suggestions about being engaged in successfully raising a child despite a busy work schedule. These are simple but fundamental observations and suggestions that any parents can relate to and apply in their own lives, especially parents with demanding careers in the business world who often wonder whether they can succeed at both business and parenting. To read this book is to be able to both experience on a personal level the success story of this very special father/daughter relationship that was confronted with countless challenges but became stronger despite those challenges, and also to give the reader an optimistic outlook regardless of the challenges the reader may face in his or her own life. I highly recommend this to all parents in the business world who are not only working hard in their businesses but who are also working hard every day to have a successful relationship with their child.

This book is a great read for parents, soon to be parents or anyone just looking for an interesting and phenomenal read. A friend of mine recommended this book to me and I am glad I read it. The book is a quick read, interesting and very well written.

In essence the book discusses how the same qualities needed in the business world can and should be applied to parenting. The author discusses how utilizing these qualities can and will help your child grow up with positive values, curiosity and most importantly the tools needed to live a successful and responsible life. The book draws from the author's experience as both a single father and a company CEO. It discusses the importance of family, the importance of your relationships with your children and the necessity of a strong leader in any child's life.

Truthfully, I find that most parenting books regurgitate pointless techniques that are ineffective and that basically are common sense. This book stands out from the crowd of parenting manuals offering insight that is not readily available from the mind of your typical book writing psychology professor; it offers real world insight connected to the business world and successfully forms a nexus between to worlds that have for generations been at odds with each other.

You should definitely buy this book. It is not your typical parenting book and it is certainly not a slow boring read. The book is fascinating, fast paced and you won't be able to put it down.

Buy It, you'll love it!!
