Book Description

Desire August 15, 2008

He must marry or lose control of his empire. But no ordinary wife would do for Australian tycoon Alex Valente. Emotional entanglements were to be avoided; physical attraction was essential.

Struggling designer Olivia Cannington certainly fit both of his requirements... most especially the latter. And she was in such desperate need of his funds, perhaps the beauty would even agree to the second part of his marriage ultimatum: give Valente an heir...within a year.

The CEO Takes A Wife by Maxine Sullivan
Alex Valente & Olivia Cannington

Alex Valente is the eldest son of Cesare Valente, founder of the House of Valente. The sexcapades of the three Valente brothers is well documented. As the eldest brother he is the first target of his father. Cesare Valente is the founder of House of Valente and he wants to make sure that his sons have heirs. His father tries to manipulate him into getting married. Get married and produce an heir or he will sell the family business and all brothers will suffer. Alex will not be coerced. He has worked hard for what he has accomplished at House of Valente and he will not let his father dictate his life.
Olivia Cannington is the owner of Cannington Collection fashion house. Olivia is the daughter of aging Hollywood actress Felicia Cannington. Even though her designs are phenomenal she still is need of cash flow. Her mother is seriously in debt and most of Olivia's money goes to pay those debts. After her first experience in her marriage to Eric the last thing she needs is a man.
Alex Valente heard Olivia before he actually saw her. He really didn't want to attend the fashion show but his step-mother had insisted. When he saw Olivia he knew that she would be perfect as a temporary wife. She was beautiful and talented but wanted nothing to do with Alex Valente. Her first marriage to Eric had cured her of marriage.
Alex at that minute that he wanted Olivia Cannington but Olivia knew that she wanted no part of a relationship with Alex. As usual Alex Valente always gets the woman. This time will be no different. Alex agrees to pay off all Olivia's debts in exchange for marriage. It's a simple solution that benefits both of them.
As time goes on Olivia realizes that she loves Alex but knows that she has to leave him. Alex assures her that he loves her and together they will stay. Someone leaks information to the press that Olivia cannot conceive. It is a test of their love and strength as a couple. Olivia decides that she must give Alex a divorce.
After a short time Alex realizes that he loves Olivia. It seems that finally their life together is truly going to be based on the love they share. Between the Valente fragrance line and Olivia's fashions they are unbeatable. Nothing can stop them until fate tries to stop them. Olivia soon finds out that nothing stops Alex Valente when he makes up his mind.
Alex shows Olivia that their love can withstand everything that the world has to offer them. He doesn't care what his father's ultimatum is regarding heirs. His father will just have to accept the fact that he loves Olivia. She is Valente's Woman, his woman and his love; he will never give her up. Love will show them the way. You don't have to bear a child to love a child.
Alex proves to Olivia that she is the single most important person in his life. He sees them loving each other and growing old together. After all she is the axis of Alex's world.
This book was definitely a Five Star MUST read.
