Easy open/close. Makes perfect right angles. Good quality construction. Came with free plastic folding square of smaller scale which wasn't nearly as valuable a tool as this one. Improved the appearance and accuracy of tile placement immensely, especially when laying zero grout line installations. Drawback is that angle is not 45 degree but flip side is that a true 45 degree angle of this size would hardly fit in smaller job sites such as small bathrooms. Besides, it should not be too difficult to draw right angle and measure out 45 degrees. Other complaint is that the ends of the angle have a forked v-cut which makes for sharp point on the end -- potential javelin if tossed? Overall, highly recommended. The only thing that would make this tool more better is a lower price.

This device is something I've considered purchasing for several years now, but somehow the price kept nixing the deal in my mind -- at least until I began struggling with some plywood sheeting that was unacceptably sized. After a few frustrating days with these 4'x8' sheets and only marginal results using a framer's square, I finally 'convinced' myself to spend the money.

It worked as well as I expected it to. A unique tool that is hard to improvise for when it is needed. Well made, though it will flex readily over it's length if not supported.

It is certainly accurate enough for all but precise cabinetry or furniture work. The folding function works smooth and sure and makes a certainly awkward-to-store device (if left open) tolerable to tote around and store. Shouldn't be any corrosion worries either, and with a reasonable amount of care should last a lifetime or two.

I would have given it a '5' had it been priced about $10.00 less.

Amazon did a great job of shipping it in an extremely rigid/durable tube.

Only thing I'd change (besides the price) would be to add ETCHED graduations along all THREE sides.

I bought this A-Square to use in floor tile layout. I saw it used in a trade magazine and it looked like a time saver. It saves time over squaring out a 3-4-5 triangle on the floor using your tape mesure - definately! But for the price I was a little dissapointed in the thinness of the aluminum parts making it not very rigid unless fully supported on the floor. Also the little locking button that locks the triangle into place bumps out proud so that you cant really lay it down flat on the floor in one direction without chance of depressing the locking button and possibly unlocking the triangle out of square. Good for general layout but dont expect tolerances greater than 1/32" over 3 feet.

I build a lot of decks and this is one of the first tools that comes off the truck. It is a must have time saving tool for the contractor or even all you weekend handymen/handywomen. I love it!

I have found that this product is of exceptional use in the tile laying industry. It guarantees you that perfect pattern that not only you want to acquire, but what the customer requires. A definite 5 star quality.

I've been using this tool for carpentry and tile jobs for two years now and it has paid for itself many times over. A quick breakdown:

Pros:

1. Folds up to next to nothing, and is thus very easy to store (standing on end or on a rack, shotgun style)
2. Portable and easy to use - the push button action to unlock to open or close is a cinch
3. Easy and instant way to square your job or check for existing state of squareness (my daughter may think I pass this last test all too well)
4. Saves time (and thus saves or earns money for the user)
5. Inexpensive (see #4 above) This is as much as going to the movies with my wife and kid. (OK, with popcorn)
6. Good size - it's large enough to give you a good reference to extend that square line on a big job

Cons:

None apparent so far

Other thoughts:

1. Storage: Mine was shipped in a stout fiber tube that it lives in to this day, though it's getting a little soft at the ends. It would be nice if they offered as an option a snazzy case. But wait, that would only increase the price. No, I'll make my own with PVC pipe...

2. Quality: The tool is flexy, as some other reviewers have noted. Through many, many jobs and repeated use, I have yet to experience any lack of accuracy or permanent kinks. Methinks it's nice to flex rather than break or get a permanent bend.

3. Value: Too expensive? Perhaps, based on your frequency of use. For me, it has not only earned its keep by paying for itself, but it has saved countless hours of my and my crew's time. That kind of time saved is worth pizza and treats for your honey, in my book.
