2.0 out of 5 stars Mod Am History novel review, December 12, 2005
This review is from: CHASE ME CATCH NOBODY (Hardcover)
I would say the book wasn't a good book over all and I would not like to recommend it to other people. I didn't have a real good plot like some of the books I read. It jumped from one thing to another. For instance when Erik was talking to the German Nazi group how did it all of a sudden go to him talking to Nikolai about the firecrackers that he planted next to the Nazi group. It was boring about how Erik ran into a guy in the gray rain coat and had to deliver some packages with his friend nikolai while on a school trip in Germany. He has to deliver passports, which are in the packages to Jews so they can leave the country not known as Jews. He does this because one day he sees a boy about his own age starving and his family who were all having through this hell that the Germans were putting up for them by posting stickers all over the houses and shops and not letting any of the Jews have any business with their stores. On the journey he has to put up with his teacher the Lighthouse who accuses Erik and his friend Nikolai of doing every bad thing that is going on even though most of it is their fault.
What is being an American? Being an American is being patriotic which is being loyal to your country and to always do the right thing and to have liberty and justice for all according to the pledge of alliance. That is partially what Erik and Nikolai are doing. They are finding these people and delivering the passports to these people so they won't have to face the horror like the rest of the Jews in Germany. They may be Dutch and not from America but that doesn't mean they aren't doing the best to help the Jewish people that are in their power. They may be causing nonsense around Germany but it's only to help the people in need. So if you were to call these boys Americans then you wouldn't be wrong in doing so because they are trying to give justice to all the people that they can.
