5.0 out of 5 stars Fussy hair savior!
First off, let me tell you that I am a person who is very skeptical about infomercial items. When it comes to items advertised on television I'm usually a pessimist. The few products I have bought from TV in the past turned out to be absolute duds. So needless to say; I'm not a big TV shopper, or a believer of infomercial items. However, after happening on the Wen...

I had really high hopes for this product after watching the infomercial. I have naturally curly hair and I'm always looking for products that will give me frizz control without weighing my hair down or making it crunchy. This product smells great, but it made my hair look greasy even without using it as a leave-in conditioner (and I don't have oily hair). It also left it twice as frizzy, regardless of which products I used after washing. My hair was definitely softer than before, but completely out of control.

The styling cream seems like it could be a decent product on its own, but beware of using with any other products as it will congeal and leave you with little gelatinous chunks in your hair!

I think that for someone with straight hair, this would probably be a decent product. It smells great all day, make your hair soft, but it just doesn't control the frizz. I can't recommend it to anyone with naturally curly hair.

1.0 out of 5 stars This Wen is not Winning for Me - Afro Hair, September 22, 2011
This review is from: WEN BY CHAZ DEAN SWEET ALMOND CONDITIONER,STYLING CREME, RE-MOIST MASK INTENSIVE HAIR TREATMENT,TEXTURE BALM,WIDE TOOTH SHOWER COMB,5 PIECE SET (Misc.)
I saw the Try Wen infomercial, ordered, and am now convinced that a person or the ordering software should be specifically asking "What hair type are you," in order to receive the right Wen for your hair. For 2 consecutive days I used this product package but after my hair dried each time, it looked dried out and frizzy. I have thick, course, Afro hair. I need moisture!!! Especially, with a curly, comb-through texturizer (Elasta QP) in my hair. From what I understand now, I should have tried the Wen, Fig formula but how was I to know when the TV sellers push, "This product is good for all hair types?" There is no Fig package offered on the commercial, it's pushing Sweet Almond Mint, the package I ordered - which smells a little mediciny, like menthol.

Great News!
While researching, I learned that Sally's Beauty Supply has their own, much cheaper version of Wen called Hair One - also found right here on Amazon. Here again, you must get the right formula for your hair! I'm going to try the dry-hair formula with Olive Oil, which now, sounds about right for me. If this doesn't work, it's back to using oils or grease or styling gels, and most definitely shampoo, while I wait for the next big thing that will greatly aid in ethic hair care.

I have also been informed: Both "Wen" and "Hair One" are mainly conditioners. If treating and washing your hair and scalp without shampoo is all you're after, either Suave Conditioner or Alberto Vo5 Conditioner will do a better job because of an added cleaning ingredient. Both are under $3 each and both are found right here on Amazon, but neither contains the added ingredients which target specific hair-type needs. I do hope this is helpful.

1.0 out of 5 stars Misleading, overpriced, and doesn't work, December 14, 2010
This review is from: WEN BY CHAZ DEAN SWEET ALMOND CONDITIONER,STYLING CREME, RE-MOIST MASK INTENSIVE HAIR TREATMENT,TEXTURE BALM,WIDE TOOTH SHOWER COMB,5 PIECE SET (Misc.)
I got this product from an infomercial. I tried it but 30 days really isn't enough time to see if it works. I actually decided to give 60 days to see any improvement. I followed the instructions which left my hair feeling dirty. My friends, family or even hair dresser didn't see any difference. They were all anxious to see how it worked. The product was reasonable in the infomercial; however they neglect to tell you that if you cancel the order which is automatically sent they charge you a membership fee(It's not a cheap fee either). I know because I had to cancel due to not being able to temporarily work, and my being unhappy with the results of the product. I was told oh well I will be charged a membership fee anyway. I've ordered stuff before like this that had auto shipping and cancelled for whatever reason and never got charged a membership fee. I have reordered some of those other products because I really liked them. This is one site or product I would never get again. In fact I use Dove Hair care which costs a fraction of this product and works better. People see the difference in my hair. In fact they did after a week of using Dove. My opinion this is a waste of money and a fraud.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY!!, June 15, 2011
This review is from: WEN BY CHAZ DEAN SWEET ALMOND CONDITIONER,STYLING CREME, RE-MOIST MASK INTENSIVE HAIR TREATMENT,TEXTURE BALM,WIDE TOOTH SHOWER COMB,5 PIECE SET (Misc.)
I purchased the wen hair care system after seeing an informercial. It ruined my hair! I followed the instructions 100 percent and my hair has never been more dry. The worst part is I purchased it off the WEN website and made sure to not check off the box for "auto order" however, i still received new shipments at my door. WEN customer service is rude and unhelpful when you call. DO NOT DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY TO RUIN YOUR HAIR!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fussy hair savior!, August 25, 2011
This review is from: WEN BY CHAZ DEAN SWEET ALMOND CONDITIONER,STYLING CREME, RE-MOIST MASK INTENSIVE HAIR TREATMENT,TEXTURE BALM,WIDE TOOTH SHOWER COMB,5 PIECE SET (Misc.)
However, after happening on the Wen infomercial while channel surfing; I was immediately pulled in because I have EXTREMELY fussy straight hair and no shampoo or hair product EVER works quite right for me. Shampoos like Suave or Dove dry out my hair to the point where it looks like straw, and leave in conditioners make my hair look like an oil slick. Even salon shampoos like the Paul Mitchell line make my hair look limp and lifeless. So yeah I admit, when I saw the Wen infomercial I was a bit skeptical, but being as I was so desperate for a product that would make my hair look halfway decent; I went ahead and took the risk... and oh wow am I happy I did! My husband kept laughing at me when I blow dried my hair out after the first time of using this product, because I kept shouting; "Oh my god! Wow!" from the bathroom. My hair has NEVER looked this healthy, clean, vibrant, or full of body. I got instant and visible results, just like in the infomercial. The product smells wonderful and it makes my usually dry hair so soft to the touch. I am so happy with this product and highly recommend it to others who have fussy hair and have also never been able to find the right product. For me, Wen is worth every penny! Two thumbs way up!

Now, that all being said, bare in mind there are a few things to consider before buying/trying Wen:

1.) Despite what the commercial says, like all things, it doesn't work for everyone. I have talked to a few other people that have used it, and just like all shampoos; it works for some and not others. I happen to be one of the hair types it works great on.

2.) The longer and thicker your hair is, the more this will cost you. The infomercial states that every supply is by month or two months, etc, but I have talked to a few girls with very long hair who have used it, and they say that their "monthly" supply was gone in just a few uses. I happen to have short hair so my supply actually lasts, but this won't be the case for people with long hair.

3.) Be careful how much you use and unless you have long hair, do NOT use as much as directed on the back. My hair is chin length and 6-8 pumps works great from me. The back says to use 10-15 pumps, but if you use that much on short hair its a total waste of product.

4.) If you have hair that's easily weighed down or easily becomes oily; avoid using the texture balm. All the other products that came in my Wen set worked great, expect for the balm. Just a tiny bit of it made my hair look chunky, oily, and weighed down, which pretty much counteracted the fabulous results I got from the Wen shampoo itself. I'm sure the texture balm would work great for people who have thicker hair, but for people who have baby fine hair like me, its not all that great.

Just a few things to keep in mind. I really do hope the Wen system will work for you as well as it did for me.

This review is from: WEN BY CHAZ DEAN SWEET ALMOND CONDITIONER,STYLING CREME, RE-MOIST MASK INTENSIVE HAIR TREATMENT,TEXTURE BALM,WIDE TOOTH SHOWER COMB,5 PIECE SET (Misc.)
This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with, ever! They take your money; if you do not like the product, they remain to take out "39.99" every month. I had to file a law suit in order to stop them from taking my money. I was bring my lawsuit forward, and had a bad review written by a reporter friend; than they gave me back some of my money. They still owe me about 70 bucks. "Guthy Renker" is the company that takes money and will not give it back; and when you call Chaz he does nothing! DO NOT BUY!

2.0 out of 5 stars WORST SCALP BREAK OUTS EVER!, March 21, 2011
This review is from: WEN BY CHAZ DEAN SWEET ALMOND CONDITIONER,STYLING CREME, RE-MOIST MASK INTENSIVE HAIR TREATMENT,TEXTURE BALM,WIDE TOOTH SHOWER COMB,5 PIECE SET (Misc.)
After watching all of the commercials i was excited to try wen so I Ordered the starter kit... Upon trying it the first time i thought it smelled great and my hair was shiny and smelled good. Though after using it a week i realized that it was just way too heavy for my hair type so i decided to CXL my subscription... Now if it wasn't bad enough that i had to spend an hour doing a run around with Clueless customer service because they couldn't find my account (even though they had billed my credit card?!?) they also kept disconnecting me and i had to keep calling back.... Than i also still had a bunch of product left and i dident want to pay more $ for return shipping So i continued to use it But THAN CAME THE BREAK OUTS Yes after using wen My scalp started breaking out in a sort of acne type break out with TON'S OF ZITS ALL OVER MY SCALP and around my hairline... so i stooped using it. Soon my scalp started to clear up and Than just out of curiosity i Used WEN again just twice and BAM The break out came back...Big painful zit's ;(
Now As far as I'm concerned WEN HAIR CARE IS OVERPRICED & NOTHING MORE THAN GOOD MARKETING.. PERIOD!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for Curly Hair, April 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: WEN BY CHAZ DEAN SWEET ALMOND CONDITIONER,STYLING CREME, RE-MOIST MASK INTENSIVE HAIR TREATMENT,TEXTURE BALM,WIDE TOOTH SHOWER COMB,5 PIECE SET (Misc.)
Followed the directions to a "T" and used the styling products. After giving this a go for 8 days i had given up. My hair did have twice the volume but that was mostly because my natural curls were frizzing up and my hair was drying out. I also had to give up because one bottle is only enough for 8 days when you have long hair. (just past my shoulder blades.) I would never recommend this to a friend and i have nothing good to say about this product.

This product does not perform as claimed. After a couple of weeks my hair was greasy and unmanageable. Hard to imagine whose hair this works with. Also, far too expensive for what it is!!
