This book presents a perface balance of materials in terms of chemistry, physics, biology, medicine and industry. Photophysics and photochemistry as two chapters take half of the book pages. The description is crystal clear and avoids mathematical treatment. I choose to read/finish it in 1-2 days and do it again after a while. Every time some more small details get into my system without larger struggle.

It can be a great textbook for graduate students to systematically learn all the aspects of light and matter. It is also a great leisure book for a mature photochemist to review those facts. By covering other fields besides organic photochemistry, it is also a good complement to Turro's photochemistry book.
