It has a heat setting so you can adjust the temperature, it heats up quickly.

I have used the iron multiple times already and it works just as well as my stylist's professional CHI, even though it is the "CHI Home" brand.

Upon further inspection of the product I realized this is a company I have never heard of, Chi Home LLC, and the product said 'made in china'.

There are a lot of "fake CHI" accusations flying around here. I can assure you, most of the people saying these things are misunderstanding the relevant facts. I'm going to try and break it all down for potential buyers, then I'll give my review of this flat iron, so feel free to skip ahead.

First of all, it's important to understand that "CHI" and "CHI Home" are two different brands with different products. They are both by Farouk and both are listed on the Farouk website. The product you are currently reading reviews about is a "CHI Home" product, NOT a "CHI" product.

"CHI" products include the original "CHI" ceramic flat iron that everyone knows and loves. This original "CHI" and other "CHI" products can only be sold by authorized dealers. These dealers include Ulta, Trade Secret, and many salons that can be looked up on the Farouk website, they cannot be bought on Amazon or Target, etc. There was a lawsuit by Farouk in response to the huge number of counterfeit "CHI" products being sold.

"CHI Home" was created in 2009 to expand the "CHI" technologies to a broader consumer market (i.e. Amazon shoppers.) "CHI Home" products, including the flat iron you are reading about right now, are sold in a variety of places including: Amazon, Target, KOHL's, and Walgreens.com, among others. These are listed on the Farouk website's product page for this flat iron.

Most of the people leaving negative reviews seem to not understand the difference between "CHI" products and "CHI Home" products. "CHIs" were designed for professional salon use, while "CHI Home" products were designed for consumers to use at home. I think some people ordered a "CHI Home" product and expected a "CHI" product.

Perhaps I should have looked a little bit closer at this product before ordering it as it does not say "genuine". If you think you are getting the real deal, a CHI by Farouk flat iron like they use in salons, you are mistaken. I was instantly suspicious of the packaging this came in. The packaging was incredibly cheap and not what I was expecting given the reputation of the CHI brand. When I took the iron out of the package it felt just as cheap as it looked. A quick flip through the manual intensified my suspicion that this was a counterfeit product as there was no mention of Farouk, the manufacturer of the CHI flat irons. Upon closer inspection I noticed the biggest difference of all was the "Made in China" on the inside of the flat iron...CHI by Farouk flat irons are made in the United States.

A genuine CHI by Farouk flat iron is totally worth the money (annoyingly enough, I didn't even save any money ordering from here as the real one, actually upgraded from the one I thought I was getting from here, I bought at local authorized retailer was on sale for the same price...grrr) but this one on here is, in my opinion, a cheap knock off.

The ones made in China are horrible! They are a cheap fake CHI in my opinion. Here is a link to show you the difference between and real and fake CHI http://brittanygc.hubpages.com/hub/How-To-Tell-If-Your-Chi-Flatiron-Is-Fake .... Mine was definitely a fake.. I just bought mine less than a year ago and it blew up in my hand! Not literally but it started making weird sounds then it made a loud popping sound where the on and off switch is and started smoking. Now it won't even turn on, it's fried! It's funny because I told my hair stylist I was looking at CHIs and he told me to be careful and that the ones made in China that have a "2 year warranty" are pretty much rigged to last exactly that so that you have to keep buying them... That's they're way of making money... Should've listened to him. What's sad is what sold me was the pink heat clutch that came with it and the pretty design on the CHI and I don't think any real CHI would come like that.. Learned my lesson the hard way..

I purchased this as a replacement for my wife's old Chi and she instantly noticed a difference. It started pulling on her hair from the cracks between the ceramic hot pads and the housing. Don't make the same mistake I did! You will regret it

I have wanted a CHI for years after using my stylist's when I was in high school. I received the pink CHI as a birthday gift. I could not be more pleased with its performance! I never bit the bullet and purchased one for myself because of the questionable reviews on Amazon. I didn't want to spend that much money and get a poorly constructed, poorly functioning product.

I have used the iron multiple times already and it works just as well as my stylist's professional CHI, even though it is the "CHI Home" brand. For those of you that say it doesn't get hot enough...hair combusts at 450 degrees. This thing gets up to 410. I don't know why you would need your iron to get any hotter unless you wanted it char-grilled. Also, the
"original" CHI that is only available in salons only gets up to 405 degrees according to the Farouk website.

I feel like this product is of substantial quality. It is made in China, like the other CHI Home products, but it has significant weight doesn't feel poorly crafted. No paint has come off. The ceramic plates are in perfect condition. No burning plastic/electronics smell.

Also, to address the reviews that say you have to go over a strand of hair multiple times to get results...HAVE YOU EVER STRAIGHTENED YOUR HAIR BEFORE?! I think any girl with curly hair knows that there is no straightener that can touch your hair once for a brief moment and magically transform it into perfectly straight locks. I have thin curly hair and it is something I have gotten used to, regardless of the iron used. (The "original" CHI was the same way too.)

The difference with this iron compared to the cheaper branded irons I have been using for years is that my hair actually stays straight all day.
