Great for the Classroom,
By
This review is from: CHINA: From the First Chinese to the Olympics (Hardcover)
As a high school history teacher, I think this book will be an excellent classroom resource for a couple of reasons. First, it was easily readable for a high school aged group. By this I mean that the language is not complicated or highly scholoraly andi it is easily readable for the average Joe. The second thing I loved about this book is that it's straight and to the point. So many books out there on China go through very long and boring explanations that include names, dates, and periods of each and every Chinese Dynasty, for example. Carter gives us this information in a format that's easy to connect with. In general, this book provides the reader a thorough understanding of China's past while bringing the reader right up to the present challanges China faces in an extremely user friendly format. Also, the book has excellent photos which is appealing to the high school aged student and the visual learner. Thanks Alden for such a great classroom resource and for making learning about China less complicated.
