I bought this for my husband's birthday. I spent the $180 for this model since it's surface is not supposed to be hot like the $100 model, since we have small kids. I liked this one did cold. The box had 2 manuals, one in English/Chinese the other Chinese. No real recipes included. Wanting to try it as soon as possibly we tried with dry soy beans. On the first attempt I got yellow water the beans were not really chopped up. My husband said it tasted okay, just watery. I tried again, same result.
My Chinese friend laughed at me thinking this white girl doesn't know how to use the machine. She has one at home and tried it. Same result, yellow water. Everyones thought doesn't work on dry beans. So I soaked beans. Machine no longer works, gets hot and beeps at the end of 30 minute cycle, but the blender never comes on.
It is not easy to contact NBox. I couldn't find contact info , so I emailed amazon to NBox. They responded with a phone#, which I later saw on the bottom of the machine.
If you don't know Chinese and I only speak English they will end up just emailing you to find out the situation. Which is then forwarded to their technician. There response to the blender not coming on is I either didn't add enough water or didn't allow for the 30 minute cycle. They were quite persistent on the type of beep noises as certain beeps mean it's fine others broken. After my third e-mailing with them insisting it's broken and I want another one, they finally stopped asking me to keep trying and seny me a fed-x label. I returned the machine 2 weeks ago and still have not seen a replacement!
After all the researching that I was getting a top quality machine, I'm upset. The phone people were nice, though limited English. I e-mailed 4 days ago and they said they have the machine and will send a replacement ASAP. I don't know why there is a hold up. I'll e-mail again next week, if I don't have a machine soon I'll have to contact my credit card.
I found some good recipes on-line it was a facebook page that had a recipe book imaged, for this model soy milk maker.
Update: I got my "new machine" about 3 weeks later. When I opened the box I realized why it took so long to get a replacement. Because they fixed my old machine and sent it back to me! I was quite appauled that instead of getting an actual new machine, I got my old machine back refurbished. They also didn't send me a recipe book. At least it works, but I'm still not happy on their ethics of sending me back a machine that was broken when you are paying $180 for the machine.
