Jayne Atkinson, Arija Bareikis, and Victoria Dilliard read with warmth, making each story convincing in this collection of motivational pieces that focus on love and the role it plays in women's lives. Author Allenbaugh, known for the best-selling Chocolates for a Woman's Soul (S. & S. Audio, 1997), continues in this volume with more stories that emphasize the challenges women face and the power of unconditional love. One noteworthy story tells of a woman's encounter with a bear and her courage in successfully escaping from it by thinking about her family and how much she wants to stay alive. In another, a woman convinces an intruder that he has made a mistake. Some of the women take a more passive stance, trusting in a higher being to solve their problems. Allenbaugh's message can be too sweet for some tastes. The "happy ever after" version of love and life her women celebrate seems reminiscent of an earlier sensibility. The pleasant, soothing qualities of these narrators' voices are well suited to the feel-good nature of the book. Tape quality is excellent. Recommended for public libraries.?Nancy R. This was a nice book to read. A few of the stories were reallygood and made you think, but overall I thought it was just like theChicken Soup books. I would reccomend it for leisure reading, it doesmake you feel good!

Miss Allenbaugh's beautiful book of stories is inspirational and written from the hearts of real women. The stories trigger so many memories that I had tucked away, but were forgotten. It is a book that I would feel comfortable giving to any woman in any profession and it makes a wonderful traveling companion. I would love to invite all the women who wrote for 'Soul' to one big slumber party with heaps of chocolate and story-telling. What fun!!!
