About the Author

Peter Holt is a former molecular biologist who now practices intellectual poetry law with a focus on the issues raised in biotechnology. He is a graduate of Darmouth, where he was involved in some of the first gene sequencing efforts in the country. He gathered the information for his novel, Chromosome 8, while living for a year in the South Pacific island of Tutuila.

A somewhat over-the-top scientific thriller combining the 'Island of Dr. Moreau' genre and a Clive Cussler deep sea adventure. This was a fast paced thriller involving genetically modified humans. Though the science of DNA and other processes were accurate, the use for modifying the genes in this novel seemed just too implausible. Overall it was entertaining to read.

This was an amazing book! Once started, I couldn't put it down until it was finished. Both the character development and the plot are beautifully written.
I won't rehash the story-line, but it is definitely a novel that you will really enjoy and will make you think - and almost definitely, it is a book that is hard to read without feeling like you've learned a few things by the end.
By far, Holt's book is one of the best I've read for a long time and I highly recommend it!
