Book Description

February 25, 2008
The heroic image of Churchill leading the Allies to victory in World War II is turned on its head when Hitler gains air supremacy, to inflict an ignominious defeat on his sworn enemy. Shocked and humiliated, Churchill is forced to seek American assistance to drive the Germans out. Can Churchill convince the Americans to intervene? Will Churchill overcome formidable opposition and be able to return home victorious? Indeed, will he return at all?In this gripping new thriller, fact and fiction are welded together, stretching the imagination into a surprising outcome. If you have ever asked yourself what would have happened if the Battle of Britain had been lost, the unfolding of events and dramatic climax will provide a fascinating possibility. It will leave you pondering what could have been, long after you finish the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hitler invades Britain - what might have happened?, August 10, 2010

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: CHURCHILL'S DARKEST FEAR (Paperback)
This is a very powerful novel based on the supposition that Hitler did manage to invade Britain. There was a time not long after World War II began when it looked like the futire of Britain was in the balance. If Hitler had concentrated his bombing missions againt Britain on the airfields, and persisted in doing so instead of a change of strategy to terrorise the public and break the morale by carpet bombing the cities instead, then the outcome might have been very different. If the weermag managed to knock out Britain's air power by concentrating the attacks on the airfields and destroying the aeroplanes, there would have been no Battle of Britain that took place over the British skies. What, in that case, would Churchill's strategy have been? Would the King be made to avacuate and seek sanctuary in the United States? Would Churchill have flown secretly to America to persuade America to get involved and clear Britain of the Nazi invaders? This novel presents a very convincing and nail-biting scenario and, in a sense, gives the reader a better grasp of the history and a better insight into what really happened, by looking at and vividly dramatising what might have happened.
