I did not like this book at all. It basically says the wife must rearrange HER life and attitudes to benefit their cop husband. For example, "we cannot be too independent that we cease to need them because we married rescuers and our guys want to be needed (pg. 55)." How old fashioned and sexist is that? Women want to feel needed too and we like our independence. I think it's worse for a wife to be too dependent on their husbands. It also says that we have to voice our expectations and assumptions to our husbands to avoid miscommunications (some of the examples in the book made it seem like arguments that aroused were the wife's fault) and not to nag them too much to get stuff done because they are either too lazy or too busy to do them (women are busy too, but we get stuff done!). As a police wife, I personally gained nothing from this book. The author seems to look at police marriage through rose colored glasses. As long as the woman stays insubordinate and makes changes to her life, the marriage will work. Shoot, the husband needs to find ways to make the marriage work too! Marriage is a TEAM effort, whether or not you're in a police marriage. There needs to be a book out there with real examples that talks about what really happens behind closed doors in some police marriages.....physical, emotional, verbal abuse, police suicide, alcoholism, infidelity, divorce, depression, anxiety, even murder/suicide (cops killing their wives and then themselves). Ellen Kirschman's "I Love a Cop" is a much more realistic book for police families.

If you are new to the world of the LEO wife this book is a must read! So many things that I thought I was experiencing myself thinking I was crazy but after reading the book I found out that there are so many of us out there feeling the same way!!! Since my LEO is a state cop it's hard to get together with other woman in the force but after reading this my LEO and I are visiting a couple from his academy class next week even though we are hours apart! So please read!!!

As a wife of a new officer I was in need of support from ladies who get what it means "to be a wife of an officer". This book gives a lot of good advice and insight.

Ever wish for a manual on being a cops wife? Well this book is close to it. It puts everything in perspective and I am thankful for Mrs. Newman for sharing her trials and tribulations as well as others stories. I've even gotten my LEO to start reading it!

Victoria shares her wisdom and experience in being a Law Enforcement wife. This is an excellent must read for new and even "seasoned" police wives who just want and need to understand what this life is all about.
