Product Description

Consider this the jack-of-all trades when it comes to strainers. The Masters Collection® 3-1/4-Inch Fine Mesh Strainer does a superb job of straining medium amounts of sauces and gravies, rinsing berries and small vegetables and dusting powdered sugar or cocoa over baked goods. It strains out the smallest particles, yet is sturdy for long-lasting durability. The elegant long curved handle has a channel for added comfort. The support handle hooks over the sides of bowls and pans to provide stability while straining. Has a professional 6/36 stainless steel double mesh construction.

Customer Reviews

Very high quality strainer.
Barb B.
It works very well and the mesh is very fine, so my tea is much clearer than it would be if I used a tea ball.
Smart Shopper
While it works it is just too small for this purpose.

I cook for myself and my wife currently and needed a strainer for the small amount of sauce that I make for different dishes. We have an 8 inch strainer that's great for large tasks, but is really cumbersome when straining small quantities of liquid. This CIA strainer is a versatile and unintrusive size, lending itself to a myriad of uses.

the steel construction of this strainer is of excellent quality. The polish is mirror like, the mesh is firmly attached and holds up well to pressing with a spoon or pestle, the metal is of thick gage and rigid. The mesh is very fine and when straining sauces they end up velvety and smooth. The strainer fits perfectly over mugs and small bowls, as well as ramekins and 6oz pyrex prep bowls. I also use this strainer as a skimmer when making stocks, and to sprinkle powdered sugar or cocoa on pastries. This works well for loose leaf teas as well on larger mugs. I've even used it as a steamer basket for finely sliced veggies (used a 1/2 quart butter warmer). All this and I've owned it less than a week. This is a highly versatile utensil and spending a little extra on one that will last a long time is well worth it.

I am a bartender who double strains a lot of mixed cocktails. I have been on the hunt for a perfect strainer that looks elegant, is light-weight, and is durable. This one is all of those things. The one thing that I would change is the size of the handle. I have rather large hands and the handle feels a bit dainty for me - not cheap, mind you, just a bit short and narrow. If you are straining hot liquids, use caution. I actually out-fitted mine with a rubber grip and it works perfectly, but the extra weight prevents me from balancing it on my mixing tin. 3.5 stars. The search continues...

The mesh is indeed very fine. Also, the quality and workmanship of this item are superb. A little more expensive than most, but built to last. Very happy with this purchase!

I ordered this to sift my matcha tea over the cup I'm going to make it in. I have to give it 4 stars because it's such a great, quality-made sifter but it's too big for what I need it for - 1/2 inch wider than advertised. I hate not giving it the 5 stars it warrants otherwise but somebody has to pay a star for misrepresentation of the product. I didn't get what I was told I was ordering - and it's spendy compared to other small sifters that would have fit my cup better. I'm sure I'll use this and enjoy it but now I have to order something else that will work for what I need.

This tea strainer balances well on the tea cup. It doesn't want to topple off like some with a longer, heavier handle. The mesh is fine, so no tea leaf bits come through. I like to sit it on the cup with the tea leaves in it and pour the water over up to the point where the leaves are immersed and take it up after steeping. Maybe that is how it's supposed to be done, but you couldn't do that if the strainer weren't well balanced and deep enough to immerse the tea leaves.

I bought this strainer as yet another item to add to my growing culinary tool kit to bring with me to work and school. While it's a bit pricier than some other strainers, the construction is very solid. I have no doubt this thing will last for years. And when they say "very fine mesh," they mean it. Definitely a great tool to have for anyone who expects perfection from their sauces.

Bought this and the 6+" strainer for straining tea, wasn't sure which to get. Turns out neither fit my wish list. This one is a little small and the 6+" strainer feels too large; wish there was a 4 1/2" strainer.

I use the 3 1/4" most. Both are the same mesh size and catch all but tea powder. Appears to be all stainless steel. The handle is short and narrow on the 3 1/4".

This replaces a small strainer we've had for...ahem, many years. What a difference. The very fine mesh does a much better job of straining. And, because it's a little wider, it doesn't fall into my Pyrex measuring cup all the time. Don't know why I didn't get this sooner.
