Book Description

Still struggling to come to terms with the accidental death of her husband, feeling as if God has betrayed her, Lacy Erikson focuses on her position as the crime reporter for Bismarck's major newspaper, and shoves thoughts of involving herself romantically again to the back burner.

Then she meets Mike Lindahl, a former police officer and gorgeous hunk of man who has his own troubled past. When the unusual murder of a young woman first brings them together, the pair finds themselves increasingly attracted to one another. Can either of them learn to trust again--in each other as well as the Lord?

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Entertaining! June 1, 2012

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! This is a light murder/mystery christian romance, but even so will keep you chuckling throughout with its clever, funny, and witty bantering between reporter Lacy and her dark and handsome, but not so tall man, Mike, who is an ex cop and current insurance fraud investigator! It was such a sweet romantic fun read, I honestly found it difficult to put down! I so hope this author publishes more books, as I wouldn't hesitate to purchase them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs More Spice! July 12, 2012
By I.A.
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I love cinnamon, but you can't use it on every dish! This book needs more spice, i.e. variety. Like a lot of these freebies, the "mystery" is not very suspenseful, and sadly the romance is a bit dull. I love the fact that the book is "clean," and the heroine doesn't jump in bed after the first kiss. However, the reader never gets the sense that these two are "star-crossed," just two lonely people who are thrown together by circumstances. They help each other get over their past hurts, and that counts for something, and there are a very good few pages in which the male protagonist gives a beautiful testimony about his faith. My biggest comment to the author would be that s/he needs to learn how to create "sturm und drang" in their writing--tension, release, tension, release; that's what makes good literature.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christian Mystery and Romance May 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I found this book to be interesting, and I read it quickly to see what would happen. I was torn between giving it 4 or 5 stars but felt it was closer to a five. The who-done-it wasn't a big surprise, but the details were.

Lacy had lost the husband she loved in a plane accident, found she was pregnant, but then miscarried. She's still living with her grief and not ready to move forward. Mike wanted to quit the partying lifestyle, but his finacee didn't, so they drifted apart. He moved to Bismark but wasn't looking for a new relationship. However, when he meets Lacy, he changes his mind.

Mike is a former cop and Lacy's a crime reporter, so they work together on some cases. Mike even helps protect Lacy through some disturbing pranks. During it all, their feelings grow for each other, but Lacy fails to recognize hers.

I wish the book had given more of Mike's point of view. It is almost all written from Lacy's. I like Mike but didn't get to know him as well as I'd have preferred. Still, it was a quick satisfying read that I'd recommend.
