The mirror is well made and functions just as advertised. Installation , though advertised easy, was more involved than some may want to get into. I installed it in my 2003 Chevy truck and didn't run into too many problems, but running wires up the windshield post might be a trick in many vehicles. Particularly those vehicles with side curtain air bags located in the windshield post trim, something the instructions don't warn you about.

If you are looking for a rear-view mirror that has EVERYTHING, the Cipa 36500 is the way to go. After installing the mirror, everything is working perfectly. The map lights give you a nice LED lighting, the autodim works wonderful magic at night blocking highbeams from entering your eyes while driving, and the compass and temp display is easy to read and a terrific option to have to alert you right now for ice during this winter season. I strongly recommend getting yourself one! :)

This is a great product with awesome features. It is quality made and was easy to install. I would have gave it 5 stars if it was a little wider a mirror. I installed it in an 2008 F250 Superduty truck and the mirror is about an inch narrower than the factory one, which gives quite a bit less of a rear view. In a car or SUV you most liely would never notice. Other than that it is a great well built product.

I agree totally with the first review. This mirror is GREAT. After trying numerous types of devices for N,E,S,W directives this one surpasses them all. The tempature guide and lights make this a perfect addition if your car didn't originally come equipped with one. Priced very well. Was easy to install.

I purchased this mirror about 3 weeks ago to install in my 3000GT Spyder VR4 convertible. The original mirror failed due to leaking of the electrochromic fluid. The 36500 is a plug and play replacement with my stock mirror but adds temperature and compass functions. My car already had the 7 pin harness wired into the header with pins 4 and 5 unused. Running the wires required purchasing some 1/2 inch wiring loom for the engine bay. I clipped the temp sensor to the horn bracket inside the front bumper and routed the wiring loom behind the driver's headlight and alongside the AC line and into the grommet at the firewall. After routing through the dash and up the A pillar I figured out the wires would be too short to reach the harness at the header so I used the additional harness that came in the box. I clipped the extra pins into positions 4 and 5 and ran the wires to meet the ones I had run from underneath the dash and cut and soldered the wiring at the A pillar. It took a couple of hours and I would consider myself experienced at doing this since I have done my own car alarm installation.

I'm very happy with the results! My last mirror was a used one from an Impala which worked well for years but eventually the mount loosened and the mirror would vibrate whether the convertible top was up or down. The 36500 is rock stable top up or down. I believe the dimming is done without fluids in the 36500. It darkens quickly and reaches a very comfortable level of darkness. The compass is easily calibrated and the temp readout is selectable in degrees C or F. It's so nice to be able to read the temp now! Highly recommended!!!

I was searching for a couple of months for a replacement OEM mirror. My car manufacturer didnt make a replacement mirror anymore that had auto dimming and map lights. Found the CIPA 36500 and after doing some more research found out my OEM mirror and the CIPA were manufactured by the same company - Donnelly. When I recevied the mirror they were pretty much identical. The wiring I had in my car plugged right in, all I needed to do was plug the 2 cables in for the temp sensor and it worked just like that. plug and play. Very happy with the product and the quality. Auto dimming is even better than it was plus I have extra features.

Pleased with the mirror and it's functions. The mirror is very well made and not difficult to install. The installation instructions were fine for generic instructions. I supplemented them with some special info (Google "Toyota 4runner rear view mirror installation") from the www. Mostly how to remove the panels required for a neat install. Go slowly and be careful and it should go OK.

This has LED indicators for compass and temp at the bottom of the mirror. They could be a bit larger but we can see them fine. For a 4runner no drilling or cutting is required. Probably the same for other makes.

This was a "wedge mount" (as opposed to "cam mount") and I just had to guess about the mounting because the dealers didn't seem to know (Maybe Toyota uses both kinds???) But the old mirror came off easily (Take the old one off first to find out how it mounts...duh.)

Drive around a couple of blocks to set the compass...per instructions.

It looks as good as OEM (I don't know how we bought a new 4runner without a compass...dumb.)

Worked well. The only thing that was disappointing was the fact that they don't tell you up front when ordering that there will be some special wiring necessary when used in a Ford Convertible.
I had to call them for technical support and a wiring diagram for the convertible. They were very helpful with that part. The engineer I spoke with sent me all the necessary instructions.

The CIPA 36500 Auto Dimming Mirror w/Compass, Temp & Light has features that mirrors twice the price do not have. Very easy to install auto dimming and compass/temp work great. Do alot of road trips and driving at night. Could not be happier with the product.

I just purchased and installed this mirror based on the many positive reviews I found in this post. What dissapoints me most is that the mirror remians in CAL mode even after following the calibration instructions. It is completely innacurate with directions because of this. The instructions say drive in a few circles and the CAL mode will dissapear. This is definitly not the case. I am going tot try to contact the manufacture to replace the unit. Not sure how they will stand by thier product.
