About the Author

Ronald L. Krutz, PhD, PE, CISSP, ISSEP, is Chief Knowledge Officer for Cybrinth, LLC. He was a faculty member in the Carnegie Mellon ECE Department and Associate Director of the Carnegie Mellon Research Institute. He was a former lead instructor for the ISC2 CISSP review seminars. Dr. Krutz is also a Distinguished Special Lecturer in the Center for Forensic Computer Investigation at the University of New Haven and consulting editor for the Wiley Infosec series.

Russell Dean Vines, CISSP, CISM, Security +, CCNA, MCSE, MCNE, is President and Founder of The RDV Group Inc., a New York-based security consulting services firm. I have just passed my CISSP exam, taken on Aug 2008. This guide was my sole reference book that I used and I also DID NOT attend the review seminar for CISSP. Having said that, I would not recommend it as your only source of CISSP reading material as it slightly outdated by now, as compared to some of the questions that I have encountered on the exam.

The quizzes listed on the book are also way too easy and nowhere near the trickery shown on the actual exam questions. For giggles and laughter, I actually visited the bookshop to review the 'Official ISC2 Guide to CISSP CBK' a couple days after taking the exam, and found out that the quiz questions listed in the book are worded similarly to the exam. I did not read through the chapters for that guide, so I could not make a sound comparison between the 2 books.

However, I could safely say that you should not just rely on one book and read the usual suspects of 'The All-In-One..', 'The Official Guide to CISSP CBK' and this book in your CISSP exam preparations.

I am studying for what is now known as the Certified Authorization Professional exam. The Certification and Accreditation process has been replaced, so the name of the certification was changed.

I am not yet eligible for the CISSP, having only been in the cyber security field for a little over two years, but this book will also be useful later.

There is a great deal of good information in this book, but I believe it is now almost 5 years old and there are some portions that are definitely no longer current.

I'm not impressed with the emphasis on the Department of Defense requirements for the CAP, as I work for another Agency, but it is probably good background information.

I purchased this book used and am pleased with the reported condition from their webpage. It was listed as "used - excellent condition" and the money savings were helpful, as well.

I purchased this book for the CAP detail as I was taking the examination in a week. I reviewed the material, and although it was written for the testing prior to 1 November, it was still very helpful reference material. I have received my examination results and did pass the CAP exam.
