I'd highly recommend getting the CISSP All In One, or the CISSP Practice Exams book to compliment this book.

The CISSP is the most popular and arguably most valuable information security certification. While SANS GIAC certifications are technically more intensive, the CISSP is the 900-pound gorilla of information security certifications.

For those looking for a CISSP review guide, CISSP for Dummies, despite its title, is a worthwhile reference.

The book provides a thorough overview of the (ISC) ² Common Body of Knowledge (CBK). The CBK is a collection of 10 topic areas most relevant to information security.

Printed in August 2012, the book covers the most current iteration of the CBK.

The book provides a good balance between depth and breath, and does not get bogged down in minutia like some other CISSP study guides.

The only negative thing about the book is that the author's suggest a 60-day study plan for certification. I have found that for most people 60 days may be a bit aggressive. 3-4 months is a good guideline to use. That gives a person one week per CBK module (and 2 weeks for the cryptography domain), with time for a review and break in between.

The book also includes a 250-question practice exam which can give the ready a relatively good feel for how likely they are to passing the exam. Note though that this practice exam like most, are written by security professionals, not a psychometrician; so it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Most CISSP test strategies recommend using 2 main books for CISSP preparation. For those looking for a practical and useful guide to preparing for the CISSP exam, CISSP for Dummies should definitely be one of those two guides.

I would recommend this book to ANYONE looking to take the CISSP certification! I initially wasn't sure how well the book would educate me on the domains, but this book really covers everything you need to know. I studied almost exclusively out of this book and did just fine on the test. Make sure you read the whole book and review all of the chapters regularly. The night before the test I reviewed all of the 'remember', 'warning' and 'instant answer' labels from this book and that was a fantastic review and really helped me the following morning while taking the test.

The one weak point of this book would be the practice questions. The practice questions from this book in NO WAY prepare you for the nightmarish questions in the actual test(seriously, they're terrible). I'd highly recommend getting the CISSP All In One, or the CISSP Practice Exams book to compliment this book. The practice questions from those books will much better prepare you for the actual questions on the test, but the content of this book will be much easier to read and contains MUCH less fluff. Good luck on your journey!

This is a good book that covers all the domains. I would recommend this book along with others. I don't recommend anyone try to use only one book. Different writing style and presentation of the material will help the reader understand the concepts.

This book takes the CISSP done to the nuts and bolts. It is good additional reading and opens a better understanding of the exam. I recommend this book as a good reference and study group material.

Provides a basic overview of the CISSP domains with 250 practice questions. Not sure if the material "covers" enough detail to adequately prepare for the CISSP exam. However, the document can be used as a good preperation tool providing good review material for the exam. Suggest using the CISSP fo Dummies in conjuncution with other materials as a study guide for the exam.

Used this as my first book read on the path to CISSP certification. The informal nature was much needed and a great way to learn all the topics before diving into the "encyclopedia" commonly used as CISSP reference. This should be part of a plan, not your only plan. AM docking it a star as the practice questions are too simplistic. And yes, I passed.
