Back in the 80's my mom and aunt used a home electrolyis machine religiously, without much by way of results. A few months ago my aunt found her ancient machine, which she passed along to me...I used it a few times and it didn't really seem to work, but it prompted me to head online and see what kind of newer, presumably better, home electrolysis kits were on the market. After reading some positive reviews I was hopeful that this electrolysis machine would be my ticket to getting rid of unwanted facial hair. I was shocked when I opened the box and found THE EXACT SAME MACHINE that my aunt purchased way back in 1982. I popped in the battery and fired it up, setting aside an hour a day for a month to work on hair removal. The results: negligible. I continued for the next couple of months to use the machine for an hour at least twice a week -- and on the highest setting -- but the hair kept coming back AND I ended up with ingrown hairs in some of the places I worked on.

My main gripes with the machine are the length of the stylet (too short) and that there is no easy way to turn it on/off. The stylet, which is set in a kind of spring, so it can't be jammed into your skin (unless it is going into a follicle, where it should be) isn't long enough to connect to the root of my hairs. For the most part, I zap along the shaft of the hair - but don't make direct contact. You can take off the protector thing around the stylet, but because the stylet is so thin, it bends easily and is difficult to manuever. I've read on here that someone modified theirs with a sewing needle on the tip, I'm considering experimenting with this.

The only reason I give this item 4 stars is because it is not as easy as it states. However, I am so happy I bought this product. I regret spending over $200 going to an electrolysis for the past few months when this item does the exact same thing the electrolysis does but at a fraction of the price. Yeah you do have to do it yourself but if you are a money conscious person like myself, that will not matter. This was the best $40 I've ever spent but I do suggest to go to a pro first so you'll know what to expect when doing this at home.

I just treated my chin, lip and cheeks. The treated hairs and their roots came out easily. I suggest you relax, take your time. Yes, it hurts. This doesn't sound like a positive review for a product, but if I dropped and broke this machine, like I did my last one, I would buy another one immediately. (BTW, I am the wife of the owner of this account.)

This is my second One Touch Electrolysis unit I've owned; the first lasted 20 years. Works just as advertised; however, the needles are very delicate as they should be and easy to bend--the problem with my first unit and I couldn't find replacements. If the user follows the instructions precisely so as not to irritate and scar, results are quite satisfactory. I am very pleased and will purchase another if necessary.

I bought this item and tried it at home around my eyebrow area. How it works is you're supposed to touch this salty water with one hand and then use the machine on yourself. Stick the machine's needle into the pore from which the hair grows and wait (tearing up from the slight stinging pain) while a little white bubbly mess starts forming around the pore. Then you're theoretically supposed to pull out the hair easily.

Ok, and the reality is that I don't recommend people to buy and use this product. Let a professional do it if you must, TRUST ME. It is very hard to get the little needle to go properly into the pore... you end up damaging skin on the surface of your skin and under it as well. Also, the needle gets bent pretty easily. My eyebrow area ended up looking pretty mangled up after my attempt-- there were small red craters in various places between and around my eyebrows.

Oh, and the hairs grew back anyway because the settlings don't go high enough.

The needle is too weak to work on the really dark hairs, like those on my underarms. I killed a needle that way and I still couldn't not get the hair out easily. I also tried it on a few light hairs on my forearm too, which was easier to work with since I have a clear view of my arm, but I honestly don't think that made a difference either long term. Oh, and short term I left some small scars on my arm as well.

This machine is not very expensive, so I thought I would give it a try, but honestly just save your money and save your cabinet space as well.

Only thing wrong with it is that it's very difficult to use on one self. Results are what I was hoping for! Great.

While this product does work as described, it is much too invasive and tedious to use. I removed hair from my chin and other parts of the body some of which have never grown back in many many months. However the scars still remain, they will go away eventually but for the time being, it is quite a pain to cover them up with makeup. Most of the hair is still there though and I'm opting for laser.
