5.0 out of 5 stars Best Way to See How You'll Do on the CLEP
If you're planning to take a CLEP test, this book is the best way to predict how you'll do. I've seen the tests in some review books, and they're way, way off the mark. The questions in this book were written by the College Board, the actual testing agency, and they're very similar to the actual ones on the test.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good starting spot but there are better ones out there
This book gives a good introduction to clep and college credit exams. I just finished my degree and have earned over 80 credits using exams. Another recommended resource is at [...]as it outlines everything you will need with several complete study guides.

4.0 out of 5 stars I CLEP'ed Away 20 Credits!, January 19, 2005
This review is from: CLEP Official Study Guide, 16th Ed.: All-new 16th Edition (Official Study Guide for the CLEP Examinations) (Paperback)
This book helped me shave 20 credits off of my requirements to graduate! I only wish I would have found out about the CLEP program sooner (before I took other classes that I could have most likely tested out of).

The key to studying this book is to do the practice tests, and also know what the non-answers are (If the answer is "B"...also study what "A", "C" and "D" are in relation to the subject in which you are studying). They WILL show up in the test. I PROMISE YOU!

This book is a good buy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great place to start!, January 7, 2006
This review is from: CLEP Official Study Guide, 16th Ed.: All-new 16th Edition (Official Study Guide for the CLEP Examinations) (Paperback)
I used this book as an outline to help me study for some of my CLEP tests, and I passed every single one. This book is pretty accurate. At the beginning of whatever test you wish to take, the book gives a description of the exam, and a pretty detailed list of all the topics that are going to be on the test. I went to the library, checked out textbooks pertaining topics listed, read up on it to refresh my memory, and did example problems for each sections. AFTER all that, I worked on the exam that came with the book...kind of like a test for all that studying. It may sound like a ton of work, but I would rather do all of this in my own free time than to sit in class for a whole semester. The downfalls I find about this book are as follows: It does not include a full-lenght exam...which may be a good thing because it's short and to the point; and it does not include explanations to the questions on the exam. You have to find them on your own, but it's not hard if you have all those textbooks to help you. Don't study just from this book or any other CLEP study guides...just use them as outlines to help you study. Hope this helped!

5.0 out of 5 stars very big help, December 28, 2005

I just took the CLEP Humanities Exam and passed - I agree that you should carefully review all questions and know all of the non answers (A, B, C and D) - this is definitely key. This book isnt going to give you the exact questions that are on the test, but is going to give you a general idea of what to expect. This book and college textbooks as well as online resources is all you will need to prepare.

This review is from: CLEP Official Study Guide, 16th Ed.: All-new 16th Edition (Official Study Guide for the CLEP Examinations) (Paperback)
This book is helpful for studying for Clep tests but does not have enough information to pass the test without using other sources.

I really studied hard with this book, and passed the exams I took! What more could you ask for? I recommend buying it rather than checking it out from the library, because then you can check off your answers in the book to see how you are doing.
