i was looking for sample tests to guide my studies and determine which clep tests i was the most qualified to take. this book is great for people who just need to know what the tests are like so they can determine their likelihood of passing.
this is not a study guide.
within 2 weeks of buying this book, i took 2 different clep tests and passed with 6 college credits each. i'm an older student, so i had about 20 years of self-education under my belt. it feels pretty cool to get a semester's worth of college credit this way. (the tests were about an hour and a half each and cost about $85.00 each)
i recommend this book for older students who have already learned a lot and don't need to sit through a college class on everything.

I found this book to be simplistic and not at all what I anticipated. I was hoping for some study materials, but this book is just a bunch of sample tests; one sample test per subject. It's nice to give yourself an idea of where you're at and what you need to study, but it doesn't give you those study tools, which is what's really important. [...]
I'll use the book because I already purchased it, so I might as well take the sample tests, but if I knew how little information was in it, I never would have purchased the book in the first place.

I expected this book to cover a lot more per test based on the fact that buying the individual study guides are $10 a piece. Instead it's just one test per subject and it doesn't even offer to explain why the answers are correct. I will definitely be looking elsewhere to find a more comprehensive study guide.

I was very disappointed in this product. The book indicates that it is a study guide. It only gives a sample test with an answer key at the end. This is hardly a study guide. I expected information about what specific info should be reviewed for the test.

To be honest, this is not a good source as an only CLEP source. However, I will be taking several tests and the sections in this book can be bought individually as a pdf on the publishers website but at a higher markup. So, I got this cause overall it was cheaper, if you will be taking at least two CLEP tests. However, it is not my only source. Still, I wanted access to their questions as well. As a suppliment, I think it is fine. And has examples from all the tests in it, which is nice.

Get general info and a practice test for each available CLEP test. Good for what it is, but don't expect any in-depth info for any subject. A good place to start if you are interested in easy college credits.

My son has passed both English Comp and Pre-Calc CLEP tests, and now has 6 credits for College, which he doesn't start untl next month! This was a great value!

While this book has tons of practice problems that are written in the same format as those used on the CLEP tests there isn't mutch else on this book that is not already found on the college board website. When I bought this book I thought I could take a practice test like in the SAT college board books that would give me a reliable score range so I could know how much more I would need to study in order to do well on the CLEP tests. I ended up using my AP prep books for the CLEPs I took and did well but my purchase of this book was a waste of money.

I would recommend getting this book only if you have not take a subjects corresponding AP test so that way you can know what the MC questions are like, otherwise look to other test prep books to see what score ranges you can expect since the test is graded on a curve.
