5.0 out of 5 stars Great preparation for the Principles of Marketing CLEP exam!
This study guide was great for the Principles of Marketing CLEP exam! I only studied it for about 6-8 hrs total and I scored in the 92nd percentile on the exam. There was no subject matter on the test which was not thoroughly covered by the study guide and its sample tests. I highly recommend this study guide for anyone desiring to save money and time by CLEPing...

3.0 out of 5 stars Mediocre Prep, but Useful
This book is divided into two parts: a "comprehensive" review (which is only 46 pages long) and three full-length practice exams. The "comprehensive" review isn't exactly comprehensive. However, the 3 sample exams do contain explanations on why the correct answer is correct and can help you focus your study efforts.

For research-oriented learners,...

5.0 out of 5 stars Pass the Principles of Marketing CLEP with points to spare, August 11, 2000

This review is from: CLEP Principles of Marketing (REA) -The Best Test Prep for the CLEP Exam (CLEP Test Preparation) (Paperback)
Buy this book, study it for a couple of weeks (I studied for maybe 12 hours total), and take the practice exams. If you've passed the practice exams by a decent margin, you should be ready to go. I'm definitely not a business whiz, yet I came in scoring in the top 1 percentile using this book. Note: while there WILL be a few questions with terminology or subject matter not directly covered in this guide, this book for the most part will equip you to deal with these questions if you have good test taking skills (able to recognize concepts via context, etc). REA and the authors have done an exceptional job.

I just finished taking my CLEP exam this morning an recieved a 65 when I needed a 50 to pass. The only study material I used was this book. I studied it for a week, and took all the practice exams and reviewed the anwswers with the explinations in the back. There where a few questions on internet marketing on the test, but most of it was common sense. One question on the test was this "How do marketing companies rate the success of banner ads on websites" and out of the five answers they provided one was the most obvious "click-throughput" the rest where just stupid responses like "the banners size and color". Using a text book for this CLEP is over kill, and it might hinder your success, because this book sticks to the facts and the must know material. I highly recommend this book for the Marketing CLEP, if you only study this book like I have you still have a easy chance at passing this exam. Good luck :)

4.0 out of 5 stars A Solid Review Text, January 14, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: CLEP Principles of Marketing (REA) -The Best Test Prep for the CLEP Exam (CLEP Test Preparation) (Paperback)
I'm fast becoming a CLEP veteran, and have used several study guides from different companies. This REA guide (mine was copyright 2001) provided a light section on the principles of marketing. This provided some basic information on marketing, however it is the sample tests that really provide the key to passing the CLEP! I have read others complain that the questions on the test were not in the text. I just took the CLEP and several questions from the sample tests were on the actual test VERBATIM! The sample tests don't just give the answer, but also a detailed explanation on way the answers are right or wrong. No study guide will provide all of the answers, or make you a subject expert, but this one provided enough information to enable me to score a high score. My humble advice... read the text, and study the sample tests!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is all you need for this CLEP Exam, April 29, 2006

This review is from: CLEP Principles of Marketing (REA) -The Best Test Prep for the CLEP Exam (CLEP Test Preparation) (Paperback)
This book is great for passing the CLEP. The only advice I would give you is to take the practice test and then look at the explanations first. Don't read the book and then take the practice tests. Take the tests and figure out what you need to work on and read over that portion and you will do great. I procrastinated and didn't study until about two days before the test and I made a 62. This book is all you need.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but you probably need other knowledge and common sense, May 1, 2003

I purchased this book a few weeks before the exam, took the practice tests, read over the review twice, and finally took the remaining tests which I found to be more difficult than the CLEP exam itself. I passed the CLEP with a 76. The book is helpful in passing the exam, but you will also need some common business sense. I also got some answers from other courses that I took such as Economics and Management.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful tool for studying, January 7, 2003

I used this book as my sole preparation for the Marketing CLEP test. While the book has a lot of information, it is broken down into well organized sections to help you focus on areas you may need more help on. The practice tests were helpful but I thought the answer explanations could have been better written. Overall, I thought this was a very useful tool for preparing for the test. However, when I took the test I thought the book had focused in some areas to much on trival information.

4.0 out of 5 stars Marketing - Done, December 8, 2002
By
This review is from: CLEP Principles of Marketing (REA) -The Best Test Prep for the CLEP Exam (CLEP Test Preparation) (Paperback)
I followed the instructions in the book. Although I compressed the time to two weeks. I read the material, took test one. Reread the material, took test two then three. I did not know everything when I took the Clep, but scored a 69 and finished with 30 minutes to spare. This book is all I used to prepare for the test. One thing I did do that I think helped was to read all the answer pages. They explained the logic behind the questions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still a good resource, October 23, 2001

This is still an excellent resource for passing the Marketing Clep. There are 3 sample tests included in the book. If you read the text, take the exams and understand why each answer is right and what is wrong with the incorrect answers you will have no problem. This was the only source I used to study and I passed by a wide margin and didn't use but a small portion of the allotted time.
