OEM Drive in a retail box
I bought this drive to add to my HP MediaSmart Server. I would have prefered a "green" drive, but WD has changed to a new design and cluster size of drive with is causing problems with Windows Home Server. The drive functions fine in my server. NOT RETAIL BOXED ITEM
This drive came today wrapped in bubble wrap and looking like an OEM resale item. I checked the warranty online with WD and it's good, thank goodness, or I'd have really raised heck. Anyone looking for a REAL, FULL RETAIL BOXED version should shy away from Electronics Direct. Learn from my mistake. Heck, for an unboxed version I could have saved...

I bought this drive to add to my HP MediaSmart Server. I would have prefered a "green" drive, but WD has changed to a new design and cluster size of drive with is causing problems with Windows Home Server. The drive functions fine in my server. Like other reviewers have mentioned, this drive seems to be a OEM drive in a retail box. I say that because it does not come with a SATA cable or drive screws. I actually did not need those items for my MediaSmart Server, but felt they should have been included with a "retail" drive.

Works Great as a DVR Hard Drive Extender,

I chose this hard drive to go in an Antec MX-1 Hard Drive enclosure (which included the eSata cable)for a DVR hard drive extender. Installation was easy. The HD extender works great. More info on this extension can be found on my Blog.

WD10EACS is 5400 rpm, not 7200,

The WD 10EACS greenpower drive is quiet and cool, and has reasonably good performance, but it is a 5400 rpm drive, not a 7200 rpm drive.
