An interesting personal journey towards coming out, June 13, 1999

I was somewhat surprised (and even a bit disappointed) to learn that in so doing (coming out), he has never ever had negative reactions with anyone. But then again Gary has picked and chosen who he tells about his religion.. He has a Christian son and daughter in law who do not, at the time of the writing, know that he is a witch. A somewhat simple view on why he chose to "come out of the closet". I would like to have seen some discussion about those who would lose their jobs for being openly pagan: for I know of many in this time who still struggle with that. No, they would not be fired for being pagan, not officially.. the management would find another reason to let them go, but it has happened, and probably always will. Pick and choose carefully who you choose to discuss religion with, and remember always that it is not necessary for anyone in the workplace to know what you do when you pray. Bright Blessings of the Lady and Lord!

Misses the Mark, August 7, 2001

It always strikes me odd when an unknown person's first book is an autobiography, as this book is. In any case, the author of this book is a retired person and so "comng out" in public is relatively safe, and therefore the book bears little relevance to the lives of the average peson. The author indicates he is still hiding his religion from various family members, and I'm not sure how this is supposed to inspire the reader about "coming out" in his or her own life. Odd, contradictory, and uninspired, this book misses the mark by a mile.

A Great Effort, Well Worth Reading, June 17, 2000
This review is from: OUT OF THE BROOM CLOSET? A Guide to Revealing Your Practice of Witchcraft to Others (Paperback)
I found this book to be an excellent reference for me as a novice to Paganism. It is easy to understand and I got the sense the author was talking directly to me. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is seriously thinking about coming "out of the broom closet."
