Excellent cutting results and enhanced productivity.

From the Manufacturer

Our new high performance solid carbide spirals are engineered for faster feed rates and long cutting life. New super micrograin carbide formula offers extremely sharp and longer lasting cutting edges. Low helical grind shears material with more efficient chip ejection. The tool works less, runs cooler and out performs the competition. Our new precision machinery was designed and built to CMT spec's. We now manufacture solid carbide spirals with the tightest tolerances in the industry. You won't find a better performance in tooling.

I use this bit mostly for cutting aluminum on my CNC router. I also use it to cut polycarbonate, acrylic and wood composite materials. Dollar for dollar, this is an awesome bit. I have used bits costing 3 and 4 times the money only to see this bit out perform them all. Usually this bit fails when I make a mistake and break it with a wrong move programmed in the CNC, I have only seen one bit actually dull after many hours of cutting aluminum. I cut with an air mist/lubricant when cutting aluminum and only air blow when cutting all other materials. I keep at least 4 of these in stock at all times.

What can you say about a router bit? Sharp, cuts very well, seems sturdy, makes good box joints. I have compared CMT to Freud before on many other sizes, and always found the CMT slightly superior even tough both are very good.

From a 4th generation furniture maker. I have used this manufacture bits commercially with good results. This bit is no exception. This bit is a specialty piece of tooling that pulls the waste out of the work path. This is a spiral cut on the sides which is typically smoother. The characteristics of this style of bit allow a tear free cut on the bottom end but can blow out at the top. That can be what you want, but in a CNC scenario you must have good hold down to prevent the bit from lifting the work material up. The cutter is also available in a down spiral which jams the waste in a downward direction which can cause a build up, but the top side is blowout free. Just a few things to consider when selecting these bits.

I used this bit in an emergency when my normal high dollar CNC aluminum cutting router bit broke. I had originally purchased this bit to cut MDF with but when I was in the middle of a job and the other one broke I installed it in the router and expected it to break within a couple of minutes. I went on to machine out several parts from 6061-t6 aluminum and it performed perfectly. Just ordered another one and will continue to test it cutting aluminum, hope that they hold up well enough to retire my more expensive bits.

I was a little nervous using such a small router bit on a pin router attachment. After rough shaping the 1/2" birch plywood, I attempted to cut the entire 1/2" depth in one pass. I was cutting about 1/8" inch of material, 1/2" thick and the router bit burned and dulled rather quickly. I knew better and will only cut 1/8" deep cuts over many passes the next time, hopefully keeping the tool cooler.

Cuts like butter. This was purchased as a birthday gift for a friend who pumps out many custom orders per week. The bit performs well considering the volume of projects completed and the duration it is in use for each project (30min to 1hr of constant use per project). Similar performance to the Freud 75-100 1/8-inch x 1/2inch up spiral router bit 1/4-inch shank that was purchased at the same time.

This is a fabulous bit. Self clearing, super sharp detail, cuts very fast in some really hard stuff (oak) and it's really tough. After (unintentionally) abusing the bit, it had absolutely no damage. I'll probably order other sizes,

I give this a strong recommendation!

I'm sure it will work as it was intended!

Feels nice & sharp...

I will be using it soon...

I'm sure it's going to be just fine cutting 1/8" slots, etc. to be inlayed, etc.
