I bought this to expand storage on my Nexus 7 and it worked great. FYI: If you're Nexus 7 is NOT rooted, you must purchase the Nexus Media Importer (NMI) for $2.99 from the Google Play store. After you purchase the NMI app, then you can format the Flash Drive/Sd Card to either Fat32 or NTFS, and start "streaming media" from the extra storage.

The cable works perfectly on my Nexus 7 tablet. Many people have purchased an OTG cable but found it didn't work. This particular one works great and I know others that also bought this specific cable and they have all worked flawlessly. Price is decent and it works. What more can you want? Update: Yes, you must be rooted for this to work on the Nexus 7 using the Stickmount app. The Nexus 7 should work using this cable and most external keyboards & mice, out of the box, but you must root your device and use the Google Play app Stickmount to use external hard drives or flash/thumb drives.

I bought this so I could connect a keyboard and mouse to my Nexus 7, and it does the job. My USB keyboard and mouse worked, as well as my Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. If you want to use a USB flash drive with this and the Nexus, and you don't want to root your Nexus, you can use Nexus Media Importer. Works great for me.

There is a specific internal wiring configuration that is necessary for a USB cable to operate in "OTG" (On-The-Go) mode. The product that I received does not have this configuration (sense pin not shorted to ground, verified with an electrical tester). My phone was unable to detect a USB flash drive plugged into it.
I replaced it with a different USB OTG adapter I bought locally, and that worked perfectly.
If you intend to use this in an OTG application (connecting external USB devices to a phone or other mobile device that uses USB OTG), and I can't imagine what else you'd want it for, then beware. What you receive may not work.

I have a Nexus 7 and I'm pretty sure I understand why the manufacturers and software engineers did not want owners of this awesome tablet to have access to an external storage. This little cable does the trick. Now, I can connect 2.0 USB peripherals onto my little tablet with this adapter and setup a mini-workstation on the plane or on the road. It's really nifty. For the price offered, it's quite a steal. I'm just hoping that there are no further updates from Google that would block any OTG cable usage at all. I've even managed to connect basic keyboards and USB wireless adapters to my Nexus 7 by just attaching it to this adapter. Quite nifty and useful for sure.

The micro-USB end does not make solid connection with my Nexus 7 jack. I have to push it to one side to connect, and then it won't stay connected if it moves even a little bit. It shouldn't be that difficult to connect USB devices!!!

The adapter arrived quickly (although it was left outside in the rain) but was dry inside. So far it works well and connections are snug. Many cable I have bought are loose and tend to fall out......not with this one. Using it to add a USB stick to Nexus 7 so a short cable is impt for me.
