In itself the product is very good but unfortunately the claims of being able to use on PAL DVD's is not true. While it works fine for NTSC DVD's and is great in size and connecting to a TV, I bought the player specifically to use in England and to be able to play DVD's either NTSC or PAL within the regions described by the product.

I'm just very disappointed that I'm not able to make full use of the machine otherwise it would of been a great little player.

The Coby DVD-209 plays DVD's fine for the price. But to advertise it as a Multi Region code free zone free DVD player is just wrong. The instructions included with the player do absolutly nothing. So if you want a cheap portable dvd player I would recomend this but if you want to play other region dvd's look elsewhere.

I used the dvd player for no more than 10 times. And it was broken 2 months later. Unable to return this player to the seller. Totally waste of my time and money!!

Had the same problem with playing any region DVD's as the instructions it came with didn't work. This worked for me and it may be worth a try for anyone having problems. Open DVD Tray. Use the remote control and go into 'setup'. Press the VOLUME keys ' vol+,vol-,vol+,vol- ' (that's volume plus then minus, plus then minus). That should get you to another screen. Using the ARROW buttons scroll until you get to '255'. Highlight '255' then press 'setup' to exit. Newer models have new locks. Try this if the above doesn't work. Open DVD Tray, Press "PBC Menu" button, Press "8888", Press "OSD" button, Enter "0" for region free. There will be a warning about copyright. Press "Setup" to exit. Good luck - it worked for me and I can watch all my British stuff & USA too. Great to travel with, light and easy to use (now).

I was so excited when I first got my Coby DVD player. Played my British DVDs with no problems. THEN....about 3 months later BAM! It just stopped working. Nothing. No matter what I do, it refuses to work. I am DISGUSTED. What a waste of time, money and energy. DO NOT waste your money on this product! Go ahead and spend a little bit extra for a quality product. Word to the wise...this isn't it.

I bought this to play all my international dvd's as well as my domestic ones.
It worked very well for a few months, but oh dear, after that, forget it!
It won't play anything. It used to go with only USA DVD's, then after about another week doesn't play a single thing.
It's going into the recycling!

The player did what we wanted. With the special instructions found on the web, we were able to configure it region-free. It also played PAL dvds on our NTSC tv. But after a couple months it got unreliable, and after 6 months it is completely dead.

One odd feature is that if it is paused, it starts up later. We didn't notice since the tv was off. So it ended up running all night or for days. If we had been more careful to use 'stop' or 'standby', maybe it would have lasted a lot longer.

Very good, small and portatil. It works with LatinAmerican, Canadian and American DVDs. Very happy with the product

it was advertised as high resolution, and the only reason I bought it is because of the region free feature. but it doesn't work well and I tilt it sideway to make it read the disc , after watching about 10 movies it's completely dead.

This particular model is NOT a multi region player. The code the company gave me would not enable me to watch Region 2 dvd's. I later bought a list of codes guarenteed to work,and discovered that the Coby 209 was not on that list. While some Coby dvd players may be multi region,this model is not. I was very disapointed with this purchase.
