Very simple to use, good for adults,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: COBY MP3 Player with 256 MB Flash Memory & USB Drive (Electronics)
This mp3 player is very simple to use. It only has a couple of buttons. The play/pause button, the mode button, the volume button, and the hold button. It's plug and play so you take off the cap and plug it into the computer. It really does have 256MB, no quirks. It only plays like 65 to 72 songs but that's o.k. This mp3 player is good for people who have a small selection of music and don't use it often. I say it's good for adults because it's easy to use. The sound is good but it's not that loud. It's portable, not extremely lightweight but who cares? You can change the color of the backlight. There's like 8 choices or you can select multicolor. It doesn't skip and it records. the recorder isn't that great, though. So I give this mp3 player 3 3/4 or 4 stars.

This MP3 player is very easy to use with a play and pause button a volume button and a hold button. This Mp3 player can hold 70 songs max depending on how many megabites your songs are. This Mp3 player would probably be good because its so easy to use. The sound is now great but its good enough and provides alittle of a concert feeling while listening to your songs.

Not worth the money!,

Had it for less than two weeks and the player no longer works. The player would shut off for no reason occasionally and then finally it had a total malfunction. Customer service only had one solution and that was to reformat it on my computer but the computer would not recognize it being there. Had trouble with switching between songs with the toggle switch. the headphones are bad to use, sound quality is ugly to say the least. You get what you pay for!!

Great for four months,

This item was great for the few months that it worked. I liked how I could just plug it straight into a USB port to transfer music. I had just started using its voice recording function when it stopped working. I was able to record a lecture and do an interview with it. It seemed to me to have a good range and playback. I typically didn't use the earphones, but rather plugged it into my tape player in my vehicle. A drawback perhaps is that songs are listed sequentially, so it is not possible to select a menu, choose your favorite artist, and then choose a specific song from that artist. But, I didn't mind that so much. The major flaw was that it stopped working. The COBY screen flashes on and off, never getting to the point where I can play any music. I can still use it as a thumb drive to store media if I want, but it's a bit bulkier than my other ones. When I contacted COBY about doing a reboot, I was told how to reboot it, but that it was out of the short warranty period. I know that no device is going to last forever, but I think that I'd like an MP3 player to last longer than 4 months.

Coby is good enough for me,

I recently bought one of these babies for my niece seeing that she loves music but I was unwilling to pay an arm and a leg. It was a reasonable price and offers just what it delivers. She seems to really enjoy and found it to be easy to load both music and documents. The only real problem that I had with is that it costed less a few days after I purchased it. But that's really a personal problem.

Great player, but you'll have to buy new headphones,
This review is from: COBY MP3 Player with 256 MB Flash Memory & USB Drive (Electronics)
The MP3 player itself has a great sound, especially if you go into the equalizer settings and pick the one that best matches your preferences. The price was nice, also, but there is one drawback. The headphones that came in the package were terrible. The sound quality was something similar to that of an AM radio. In order to really enjoy your music, you'll have to buy better ones. This obviously makes the player somewhat less of a bargin, but overall, I'm very happy with it.

Don't waste Your time,

The only possible attraction to this gizmo is the price. With that said it is still over priced. I purchased my Coby player from a local sporting goods store because I didn't want to pay a lot for a new mp3 player. I just had a really good one that I spent maybe $49 dollars for, stolen. And when I went to buy a new one they were priced around $80, $90 and up.
I went with this cheapo item and paid about $36 hoping that if I lose it or get it stolen again it wouldn't be a big deal. Now I'm begging someone, please take it. I used it for a few days and did not like the difficult screen menus. You have to scroll with a toggle switch several times just to get to a menu that enables you to play music. The toggling is not intuitive and you have to jar it several times before it actually moves once. The view is less that an inch tall and so you really can't see what your playing. Long story short before anyone got a chance to steal this one it stopped working completely in a couple of weeks. I just took it back to the store for a refund of my money. It is well worth it to spend another 10 or 20 dollars and get a decent MP3 player.

For about 12-15 bucks the player is ok, but if you are serious about your music and like to have hundreds of songs this is not for you. It's ok for short trips like bus rides and what not because it can't hold many songs. And there are no playlists.
Also, it doesn't take long to get use to how it works, but I had some problems with changing the songs. Syncing music is easy, and the sound quality is average. It isn't that bad but it isn't that good either. But sense it's cheap you can't really expect much.

Not MP3 Smart,

The instructions for this player were not clear. Even someone with an MP3 player had a hard time figuring it out. Plus the battery came all rusted and corroded which bled out onto the instruction book. I would not recommend this one unless you are a total genius at figuring how to operate things like this. Where am I now with the MP3 player? Still not listening to music. It may have been the right price, but I think I bought a dud.

I have used this product for almost two years. I have one thing to say: excellent for the price.
Pros: [A] The sound quality is excellent; as good as any iPod or Sansa, but, of course, this depends on your headphones. The headphones that are shipped with this player are quite insufficient. I bought some high quality in-ear headphones and I was very satisfied. [B] Menu system is outdated, but functional. It plays the song in the order that you sync them, so this is great if you are driving and you don't want to distract yourself for too long. Also, once you get the hang of the interface, you'll realize that simplicity is the key to a functional mp3 player- the same reason that the iPod is so popular. [C] The functionality of the included flash drive both speeds up syncing time and makes it more convenient to do so. I can take this thing anywhere and plug it into any computer, copy the songs onto the hard drive, and do whatever I wish with them. All without the hassle and clutter of cords. [D] The microphone is a feature that I seldom use, but the sound is fairly clear- for the price (don't get me wrong, this is no sound studio...). I suppose that it could be used to record lectures and whatnot, but the only limitation with this is the size of the storage space. You'd be lucky to get two lectures on 256 MB of memory. [E] The battery life is outstanding. On medium volume, I can usually get about 20 hours of listening time per Energizer battery. Maybe not as great as some, but definitely good. Good is for sure. Cons: [A] Sometimes, the controls may not respond. Most notably, the play/pause button sometimes needs to be pressed twice to get it to work. I usually hold it down for half of a second, and it works just fine that way. But, hey, for the price, I have no complaints. [B] I have had difficulties, occasionaly, with the unit spontaneously shutting off. This usually happens when I move it suddenly or have it in my pocket when I am walking. I think that this may just be a bad soldering in mine, but it could be that the battery doesn't fit the slot as smugly as it should. [C] Storage space is somewhat limiting. Usually, 40-50 songs will fit on there. Once again, for the price, this is...okay... Overall: Definite buy if you have both only a small amount to spend and are looking for a good deal and if you are willing to upgrade when the time comes. Obviously, being a minority with a four star review, you may be skeptical, but I love this thing. It is good, sturdy, functional, cheap, and it has just enough storage space to entertain for about an hour. Things it is not: and iPod or a Sansa. Don't expect one, and you wont be disappointed; don't think it is, and you wont need a wakeup call. Once again, this is an excellent mp3 player FOR THE PRICE! |
