I highly recommend this product for boats and autos. I used this on a boat and it worked so well I decided to try it on my car and WOW. Two years later and water still beads up on the car. I agree with the other reviewer about not letting it dry before buffing off. You must buff it off within 30-60 seconds or you will have your work cut out for you trying to get it off. In my opinion, this is the hardest and finest carnuba wax product on the market. I have not tried the Collinite Car waxes. I figured that the #885 wax would be tougher and last longer due to its suggested aeronautical and marine applications. It is very easy to apply and will last for years. I also have used it after a glass scrubbing compound on my windshield which helped increase visibility in bad weather by shedding water. I have used it after buffing out yellowed headlights with "3M Marine Color Gloss Restorer 09089"(which is great for polishing out scratches in your car paint too) to protect them from yellowing again. And I intend to use Fleetwax #885 on my chrome rims after I buff them with that 3M stuff I mentioned above. I noticed that dust and dirt have a hard time sticking to my car after properly cleaning and using a pre-wax cleaner of some sort(like that 3M stuff), and then applying Fleetwax #885. I have also used it on the paint finish, decals, and all white plastic parts on my RV. My hope is that it will prevent the decals and the plastic parts from fading/yellowing from UV. Its a lot of work but you won't have to do it again for a very long time. And applying it very easy compared to other waxes. BUT YOU MUST USE SOME SORT OF PRE-WAX CLEANER FIRST! I hope this review was helpful.

i've used Collinite Fleetwax to wax my catamaran sailboats for the last 3 years. i sail 18-19' long cats which have two hulls with gelcoat finishes. i am reaching the end of my first 12oz can, which has covered 4 1/2 catamarans (18 hull sides - 30" wide). this Fleetwax is more creamy than automotive paste wax so it's easier to apply. although paste wax is harder to use, in general, than liquid waxes, i know it's doing a better job of staying on the hull, plus it goes much farther than a liquid for the price.

Note! there is one big difference between using this Fleetwax compared to auto waxes and it is this.....you don't let it dry fully to a powder like you do with a car wax! if you do, you will find it is so hard that it won't buff off and you can see the wax marks! i made this mistake the first time i used it. you need to apply it to an area of about 5-6 s.f. and when you finish that area, go right back to the beginning and start buffing it off. this allows the wax to dry for only about 4 minutes. if you do it sooner, the wax is still sticky and if you wait much longer, it's too dry. sounds crazy but that's what they recommend and they are right.

i've been very pleased with this product so i highly recommend it!

Does an excellent job of protecting my boat's 30 year old gel coat. Applied every six months, compounding isn't necessary, thereby avoiding any further removal of the gel coat. Important to note that it needs to be buffed off before it dries.

Have been using for 2-3 years on my Chesapeake Bay based keelboat. I only wax in spring before launch; having just checked the boat to get ready to do it again I see that it still has a good layer of wax from last year and my hull is exposed to the elements all winter.

Here's what I do every year before launching:
1) wash with water and sponge to remove surface dirt
2) use the Collinite #920 fiberglass cleaner to remove stubborn dirt and some wax over a 3x3 foot area (with high quality terry cloth towels)
3) wax cleaned area
4) goto 2 until done

The paste wax is not easy to apply, it's a shoulder workout. I try to rub it into the gelcoat with small, overlapping circles. It's easiest to wait for a warm day, 70+ degrees, leave the wax on your dash to let it warm and soften up, then it applies pretty easily. Buy "micro fiber" towels to remove, much easier that way. Only clean and wax an area that you can finish before the wax gets too dry.

Results last and make your boat look like one of the best on the water.

Folks,

This wax has a very strong following with the boating and auto crowd. It lasts like forever. Google it for some testimonials. But... you most likely already know that?

I shopped, and Amazon has the best price and is one of the only net stores with free shipping. I use it on my SeaCat power catamaran boat here in the hot sun and salt water of south FL (Fort Myers). You can get a slightly better shine, But it won't last as long as this wax. The electric companies use it to wax the insulators on the telephone poles down here.

I used this wax on my boat about 4 years ago and have been lazy about putting another coat on my boat but will this summer. My boat is over 25 years old and this wax makes it look brand new. Remarkable stuff. Also heed the application warnings others have described. Apply in approx one to two square foot sections and buff *immediately*. If it dries, you'll be in for a real workout. If you use a buffer, it's actually a fairly easy job. And it does last longer than other waxes.
