Columbine McKana [ Aquilegia McKana ] are beautiful, often bi-colored columbines that are perfect for the middle of a sunny, moisture retentive border. Flowers form a delicate star of outer petals surrounding an inner ring with yellow centers. Long spurs project out behind the blossoms.
Columbine McKana [ Aquilegia McKana ] has flowers that are larger than other varieties and, although short-lived, the plant self-seeds freely. Bonnet-like flowers in shades of blue, lilac, yellow, pink and rose red from late spring to mid summer above mounds of fern-like, mid-green leaves. The colors tend toward the pastels and the overall effect is very bright and colorful.
The plant is wonderful when used for cut flowers.
The plant has graceful, blue green foliage.
