5.0 out of 5 stars I literally bawled when I located this book at Amazon.com!, September 2, 1999
This review is from: Come over to My House (Hardcover)
I've been searching for this book since the birth of my first child. It was my all time favorite book. My mother read it to me night and day. Upon my learning to read, I remember taking this book to bed with me during nap time and reading it over and over again. I never grew tired of seeing how children in other countries lived. This book went every where I went. I'm estatic this book has been reprinted and I can share it with my children.

5.0 out of 5 stars One children will remember for a lifetime!, December 15, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Come over to My House (Hardcover)
Come Over to My House, by Theo Lesieg, (otherwise known as Dr Seuss), written in his typical style was a fun interesting and rhyming read. A small boy visits friends around the world. "Come over to my house" they say and share foods, homes and customs from their own lands. Eat spaggetti in Venice, slide down a pineneedle slope in Canada and sleep on the floor with a wooden pillow in Japan.

This book was a favorite of mine as a child and I wanted to share it with my own daughter. I was excited to discover that it's being republished in 1988 (old copies are hard to find). I look forward to adding it to our own library!

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite picture book!, April 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Come over to My House (Hardcover)
I, too, love this book and have tried to find a copy for years. As a child, I frequently checked it out of my church library. I enjoyed the bright colors and the excitement of visiting other places. The pictures and story remind me of a favorite place -- Disney's "It's A Small World."

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book, My Son's favorite., November 1, 2002
By A Customer
This book is amazing. I found it at a thrift store for .25 and put it away for the birth of my first child. I am an American living overseas, so for my son to see all the different cultures familiar and unfamiliar, it great. He is 18 months old and just wants to look at the pictures and hear me read it over and over and over again. I never tire of reading it either.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you can find it, get it! A great book!, January 24, 2007
In typical Dr. Suess fashion (LeSieg is backwards for Geisel...Dr.Suess' real last name) this book carries the poetic rhyme that kids love. It tells the story of how homes are different everywhere, but how "they're all alike when a friend asks you in." The pictures are bright and interesting. Young children will be filled with curiosity with the amusing pictures of homes in far away lands.

I read this book to a group of first graders and they hung on every word. None had ever heard the book before. It truly is delightful! It is a shame that this fabulous book is no longer in print. I got my copy nearly 30 years ago. It is still my favorite!

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic "Must-Have" book, December 10, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Come over to My House (Hardcover)
As a young girl, I adored the stories of the young boy traveling to exotic locations learning about his contemporaries around the world experiencing their cultures. It certainly made sense to me at the age of four, when traveling through Europe and seeing many of these cities highlighted in the book. Funny, I too thought I was the only one to call this book my "favorite." I am ecstatic that it will be reprinted as I see giving this valuable book as gifts to family and friends along with replacing my own worn, coverless, copy!

Come over to my house, come over and play! I thought I was the only one who claims this as a favorite book! A wonderful introduction to other places in the world, in the marvelous Dr. Suess style. Perfect for any beginner reader.

This was the first book I learned how to read! I have often told friends about this book and how fabulous it was. I believe this book led me to my first career in International Relations.

5.0 out of 5 stars My two year old always says, "Again, again!", September 1, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Come over to My House (Hardcover)
I was pleased to find among my childhood favorites a tattered copy of "Come Over to My House" to share with my two year old daughter. It is a great way to introduce cultural diversity to the youngest of children. I'm looking forward to getting the new addition for my niece since I know that my daughter won't part this my virtually bindless copy.
