Book Description

Best Practices May 22, 2007

It doesn't take long to understand why The Wall Street Journal calls Keith Harrell "a star with attitude." Keith Harrell, a.k.a. Dr. Attitude, helps you along on your path to success. Keith is a bestselling author, performance coach, and nationally acclaimed motivational speaker recognized for his innovative and enlightening presentations to Fortune 500 companies like Coca-Cola, IBM, Microsoft, and Southwest Airlines. His bestselling book, Attitude is Everything, helped readers improve their attitudes to impact the bottom line.

In Attitude is Everything, Keith taught readers to gain control of their careers and their lives by turning positive attitudes into successful actions. But attitude is only half the equation. Once you have super motivated employees, you need them to CONNECT to the company's goals and its mission to achieve maximum success.

Success is built on connections we make with people and ideas. Whether it's connecting with customers to improve their service experience, or connecting with the strategic business plan and objectives for the coming year, the foundation for success starts with CONNECT. Here in Connect, Keith Harrell and Hattie Hill reveal the seven core competencies needed to connect individuals and organizations in order to heighten productivity and to maximize personal and professional success.

Commit to win
Open up to opportunities
Notice what's needed and do what's necessary
Navigate by your purpose
Execute ethically
Challenge your challenges
Transcend beyond your best

From AudioFile

A motivational speaker known for his inspiring messages on attitude says that all success in life requires connecting--with our noblest values, with our wisest intentions, and with the organizations and people we need to achieve what is important to us. Harrells insider stories provide the full benefit of his business experience, wisdom, and humanity. His insights on the responsibilities of being human are precious reminders that the efforts we make to connect with others really can make a difference. Dick Hill gives a slow and deliberate narration that sounds a bit over-the-top from time to time but expresses the audiobooks key ideas without distracting listeners. 5.0 out of 5 stars We were born to CONNECT!, June 20, 2007
This review is from: CONNECT: Building Success Through People, Purpose, and Performance (Best Practices) (Hardcover)
I absolutely love the book CONNECT! Keith has hit another home run. When we think about success we minimize the importance of attitude. It is truly clever how the authors used this powerful acronym to help us think about what we can do to get to the next level. The most beneficial chapter for me was "Open up to Opportunities". It helped me to think of ways that I can connect to opportunities and be resourceful. The metaphor of the pond shed light on the need to constantly update the water in our lives! I love the quick and life changing steps and business examples (IBM and Verizon, etc.) If they can open up to opportunity so can I. Thanks Keith and Hattie for sharing your wealth of knowledge. It is time we learned the power of CONECT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Connecting employess to the corporate mission, June 20, 2007
This review is from: CONNECT: Building Success Through People, Purpose, and Performance (Best Practices) (Hardcover)
To me, this book is a great resource for developing a strategy to connect teams to a common purpose. Keith's insights on how to create an emotional link between a leaders purpose and their people is the heart of the book. A memorable section is on the "Rewards of Integrity" and the choice we make as leaders between character and compromise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super-Fantastic, May 31, 2007
This review is from: CONNECT: Building Success Through People, Purpose, and Performance (Best Practices) (Hardcover)
Keith has definitely done it again. Yes, I agree with the review that says it is for sales. But I disagree with everything else. We are all salespeople trying to sell ourselves and our attitudes. Keith wants us all to connect to ourselves, and the world around us, and this is a book that shows us how. Perhaps I am a bit naive, but that is not so bad a thing to be in this day and age. I am naive enough to believe that we are all connected and once we realize that and act on it, we not only improve our lot in life, but encourage others to do the same. Thank you Keith for continuing your very important work and for connecting, at least with me.
