Review

By Christoph Fischer, Amazon Top 500 Reviewer:
"Cornered Coyote" by Dianne Harman is a superb and gripping sequel to the previous, and equally exquisite books in her Coyote Series. I was lucky enough to receive an Advance Review Copy of the book and devoured it within days of its arrival, despite a heavy workload of my own.

This time round Maria returns to California, trusting her cop boyfriend will get her through immigration without problems, but she is arrested for the murder of her husband.
It is her business partner, Darya, who comes to Maria's aid by getting the right kind of people to take action.
There are several romantic story lines with some very sexy scenes and great chemistry between the partners, there is excellent and convincing court room drama, legal and illegal plotting and scheming and the return of characters from the first two books. The dialogue is cleverly interspersed with the characters' thoughts, lending more perspective and spice to the scenes.

Harman has made this installment a firework of action, romance and suspense. As with her previous books she understands to build her characters in a colouful and intriguing way, always poignant and witty. Well paced, written with excellent attention to detail and a talent for fleshing out the scenes with the right amount of detail this really hit all my buttons.

Highly recommended for fans of well written crime fiction.

More About the Author

Dianne Harman draws her stories and characters from a diverse business and personal background. She owned a national antique and art appraisal business for many years, left that industry, and opened two yoga centers where she taught yoga and certified yoga instructors. She's traveled extensively throughout the world, most recently dividing her time between Huntington Beach, California and Sacramento, California, where her husband was a Senator. An avid reader, Dianne brings the richness of her life experiences to her novels, Blue Coyote Motel, Coyote in Provence, and Cornered Coyote - all of which are available now in the Coyote Series.

Being a dog lover and having attended numerous cooking schools, she couldn't resist writing about food and dogs, thus the Cedar Bay Cozy Mystery Series and the Liz Lucas Cozy Mystery Series, which include family recipes! Kelly's Koffee Shop, Murder at Jade Cove, White Cloud Retreat, Marriage and Murder, Murder in the Pearl District, Murder in Cottage #6, and her latest book, Murder and Brandy Boy, have all been on the top of the culinary, cozy, and animal charts within a week of being published, Kelly's Koffee Shop was voted as one of the top 30 Best Self-Published Books of 2014.

Several books in the cozy mystery series have been designated by Amazon as All-Stars because of their sales and Dianne has been named by Amazon as being one of their most popular authors.

An Award Winning Bestseller, Blue Coyote Motel was selected as a quarter finalist in Amazon's Breakthrough Novel Award contest, Goodreads Psychological Thriller of the Month Book, and e-thriller Book of the Month. Blue Coyote Motel and Coyote in Provence were finalists in Chanticleer's CLUE awards contest.

Well written novel, I have to admit I did not read the first two. But this book can be read as a stand-alone.

I liked the pace of the book, and the characters and action.

This story includes murder, intrigue, romance, and well-written sex scenes (I might add).

The author is a master with dialogue. I don’t want to give away the story line. It is complex. There’s deception, love, mystery, even an art thief ~ everything necessary to make a great suspenseful romance novel.

The settings range widely from the U.S. to Europe. I liked the characters Darya, Maria, and the private investigator, Slade.
If you’re a crime fiction fan and like a little romance on the side, this novel will fit the bill. It’s a great read!

I've read all the books in The Blue Coyote Series and was very pleased that this well-written work perfectly completed the storyline throughout Dianne Harman's three books. With her entertaining style, Dianne kept us turning the pages to find that happy ending which all of us were wanting. From the very beginning when Maria was arrested to its surprising ending, the story moved swiftly and thoroughly.

I would highly recommend Cornered Coyote to anyone who likes to read suspense, intrigue, and good, exciting drama. You won't be disappointed. Ms. Harman is one of the best Modern Authors of today.

I'm a big Coyote fan and read the first two "Coyote" novels. One of the many things I loved about the third in the series is how it integrated the first two novels. In other words, you need not have read the first two to fully enjoy this one. Slade Kelly, a virtually noir-like PI is hired to try to keep Maria Brooks safe while she is in prison awaiting trial for the murder of her husband Jeffrey Brooks, the deranged inventor of the Freedom drug. I won't go into the plot complications but suffice it to say the story thrums with tension, humor and intrigue, all done with a deft touch. I read the novel in three sittings and recommend it highly. A fine read and it gets five well-deserved stars. Kudos to Ms. Harman.

When I first saw the cover of the book,I was afraid it was going to be a romance. While I love to read almost anything, I have a very difficult time getting through them, especially when they are one sex scene after another. But, in all my reading I have learned not to judge a book by its cover. I am very glad I don't because I would have missed an amazing novel. The was sex and romance, but it was appropriate to the plot.i think this novel was a great suspense novel, along lines similar to john Grisham's book A Time to Kill. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Harman's novels.

This is by far the best book in the “Coyote Series!” I have waited to review this book until my husband too had a chance to read it through. His and my opinions concur… BEST IN THE SERIES!

The way the author leads us back to the first book “Coyote Motel” and refreshes our memories, makes this book so easy to follow. And it is done with such care and tact. With so much happening in this new book, reflecting back to the desert and to the motel is almost a must. We all have limited memories and slow instant recalls; it is what I call the “now, who was that?” syndrome. Great Job! The court scenes are exceptional and the sexual encounters “inspirational” (hmm). I do recommend those who have not read any of Ms. Harman’s three books in the Coyote series to get them all and start reading the first one: “Coyote Motel.” From there read “Coyote in Provence” and then, the last and the best of all: “Cornered Coyote.”

Thanks for a few wonderful hours of reading and for watching my husband go with such ease from his long obsession with Thomas Payne to become a true “Coyote” fan.

I read Coyote in Provence and Cornered Coyote in just 2 days. I flat out could not put these books down and they consumed my life for the full 2 days. Just when I thought I'd we'd see Jordan and Elena (aka Maria) happily married off we get a plot twist and WHAMMY! What a plot twist....Never saw that one coming. Enter another few characters to fall in love with. I've gotta say...these sexy detectives are gonna be the death of me! Suave, sweet talkin' Slade Kelly converges on us and boy does he have a secret to share. This book just kept coming with new turns. I experienced probably every emotion.. I teared up when Elena/Maria came back to the States only to run up against a brick wall. My heart ached for her; she gave in and followed her heart trusting that she would be safe. You'll have to read the book to see how that plays out. We also meet Darya, a beautiful cosmetics executive who has more than the cosmetics business in her color palate. This emotional roller coaster will take you places you would never think of. You'll literally fall head over heels in love with this book. I did not want the book to end. It is without a doubt an INCREDIBLE read. Kudos again Diane Harman. You've nailed it!

Grisham and Connelly Watch Out
Grisham and Connelly watch out, `cause there's a new kid on the block. Dianne Harman makes her mark in a highly competitive suspense-thriller niche. Read the book in two short sittings and couldn't put it down. The final chapter ends happily with some last minute manoeuvring to keep you turning pages right to the close.
Cornered Coyote has it all. A beautiful protagonist trapped in a political power play, lost orphans rescued from uncertain death and woman's issues addressed with aplomb. Let's not forget the steamy, tastefully written erotica boiling behind the scenes and creating sincere love interests.
Ms Harman's newest book in the Coyote Series reads smoothly and all of her character's conflicts are carefully weaved into the plot with skillful talent. For this reader, the dialogues shined, balanced by descriptions that put an unforgettable picture in your mind's eye. Pick it up before a big six publisher takes it away and makes it into a TV series.
