I recently purchased this toy for my 2 1/2 year old son who has a real interest in anything to do with numbers. This desk is great because it has so many levels. He plays with the counting mode, the mystery mode ( beginner level) asks him questions like find the number bigger than 6, or what comes after 12? These are great for him, perfect for what he is learning now. He loves the 45 second quiz which asks questions like "press the number 12, and what number comes before 5?". He also loves to try and draw numbers along with the game. There is an advanced level and also some addition and subtraction games that I am sure he will be exploring soon, but right now he is very happy with the beginning ones, and so am I because this toy will engage him for extended periods of playing by himself. All in all, we think this toy is great. Only gripe is its a bit too loud, but not a big deal when you look at all it does.

I bought this for my son for Christmas. The Colors are extremely attractive to a child's attention and it is very durable with a pen that remains attached so it does not get lost. The numbers are raised and do not get lost, as they too are attached to the desk. There are two levels of ability for a child to choose from and six levels within each of those levels. The desk encourages a child with positive reinforcement and also independent play. It demonstrates the proper way to form numbers and it is always patient with the child. Proper writing of the numbers increases manual dexterity and there is a button to control the volume. It has a carrying handle for easy portability for a child. It teaches subtraction, addition and word problems. It is suitable for a child just beginning to learn numbers to a child that is much more advanced. It increases attention span for a child to work from the easier to the more advanced levels. It also gives a child practice with following directions. An abacus is also included at the top of the desk.It affords challenge and a feeling of positive self esteem for a child. It is a very special desk for any child to own. Mrs. Symmington

My 3 year old got this for Christmas, she is able to recognize all of the numbers and write most of them. It is very durable, it is easy to understand when the computer is talking. One of the things I like most is that this is one of the very few toys my children have that will advance with them. It has math games for older children! I can't say enough good things about it.

My 5 year old daughter has been using this for a year and enjoys it more each day. The multi-sensory nature of the toy suits many learning styles (auditory, tactile, visual). She takes it along on many trips and it has held up very well. I'm very pleased with this product.

We have owned several LeapFrog products, including the Count and Learn Math Desk. They are generally all excellent in design and vision and close to terrible in quality and durability. Both our spelling and math desks failed after about 1 month of normal use. The red slider, which must be slid to tell the system you are ready for the next problem, failed on both units, rendering the products close to useless. Other LeapFrog products had similar problems. My two girls (2 and 6) are not torturing these products, but just giving them normal use. Both girls enjoyed playing with (and learning from) the products until they failed. I ignored similar warnings on amazon.com reviews before purchasing these items and now wish I hadn't. Don't make the same mistake.

This toy desk has six levels of learning and a button to switch it to beginners or more advanced, whichever your child may be for each of the six levels. The Numbers are raised and must be chosen by pressing them down. It teaches the proper way to write letters and waits for the child to copy how the number was written. It helps with manual dexterity. and the writing pen remains attached to the desk, which also has a carry handle for a child to easily carry it. Children learn with a lot of positive reinforcement which this desk provides for the child, and it is never impatient with a child to lower his self esteem.I have a degree in ECE and taught H.S. as a substitute teacher. All children respond when encouraged and you work at their level. This desk allows a child to begin with number recognition and I have seen children learn by needing to touch at an early age, as this desk does with the raised letters. It is a learning desk, so I would not throw it into a toy box, but have a special place for it and teach the child to respect his toys. It encourages independent play and practice on their own. It is an excellent teaching and learning toy Mr. Symmington

this one is particularly good,

I got this last Christmas for a (then) 3 1/2 year old, he loves it and is still playing with it. He's not really engaging with it but that's not the toy's fault...he's not getting a lot of parental support which is why I wanted to get him something like this where he had a prayer of learning on his own. This one has a wide range of great features, it's the best one I've seen so far. I'm also really impressed that it hasn't broken!

I bought this for my five year old daughter who will be entering kindergarten in a few months. She had a sudden interest in math, so I went to the store hoping to find something to encourage her. Needless to say, I came home with this toy and was quite happy to see how many functions it provides. She can count using the sliding beads along the top, addition & subtraction problems are displayed on the electronic face and read aloud, and it also provides her an erasable area to practice writing the numbers. It keeps her busy and happy while reinforcing her newly acquired math skills. I would not hesitate to recommend this toy.

Even though I bought this toy ~ 2 yrs back, it was barely used until about 6 months ago, when my younger child discovered it. It's been treated really gently-- he's not a "chuck it" type-- but all of a sudden the 2nd row buttons began to call out the 3rd row numbers. It's not a battery issue. SO I contacted Leap Frog, because these things aren't exactly cheap, and asked if it was fixable. That was 3 weeks ago, so I can safely say their 48 hr turnaround time is a bunch of bull. I also had one of the First leap Pad units for my first child, and I was never impressed with the performance of that, either. So it might be just mediocre engineering in general with them, which is just unacceptable given the prices they charge. SO I guess unless I want my son to believe that 9 and 14 are the same number, I gotta chuck the math desk and go buy some flash cards! :)
