Editorial Reviews

Review

COWBOY FOR SALE is a heavily revised version of a formerly print-published romance titled Bachelor For Sale. Even if you've read the first version, you'll notice major changes, improvements, and more in-depth characterizations!  I'm a better writer now, and you deserve a better read!

Here are some comments, though, of the former version:

"I find your dialogue and narrative clear, colorful, and direct. I like the themes of personal commitment, loyalty, and fidelity your characters exhibit."  ~ J.A., Illinnois (my creative writing teacher from high school--I reconnected with him so I could send him a copy of my very first book!!)

"What a fun read!  I don't spend a lot of time with romance novels but thoroughly enjoyed Jared and Lacey's understandings and misunderstandings, adventures and misadventures.  And since San Diego is my home, it was fun to recognize most of the settings and think, 'Oh, I've been to that club...'"  ~ M.M., California

...and here are comments on the revised version:

"Another wonderful book from this author. The characters and story are charming and I absolutely loved the last chapter. That the setting includes an alpaca ranch was just icing on the cake for me."  ~ R.M.

"Cowboy for Sale is another excellent book from Janet Wellington! It is sweet and funny; steamy and sexy. I love that he's a cowboy, but not a typical cattle or horseman - it makes this book stand out. I was hooked from the first page - I mean, who wouldn't want to bid on a hunky cowboy at a Dream Date Auction?! Please read this, you won't regret it. And if you haven't read any of her other books, I highly recommend them as well!"  ~ J. B.

More About the Author

I feel like I have been a writer all my life--as cliché as that sounds, even to me!--from childhood essays that ended up in the Sunday School bulletin, to long-ago burned journals (I hate that I did that!), to love-sick poems written on napkins while having a glass or three of wine, to newsletters and articles and press releases written on-the-job, and finally to happily-ever-after romances that I love love love writing!

As an award-winning author of four print-published novels via traditional publishers, I have now happily embraced the ebook revolution and am delighted to be on the indie path. I'm tellin' ya, the freedom is exhilarating!

So, what makes me different than the skads of other romance writers? I think my romances offer a little "something extra"--whether it's really interesting secondary characters with their own arching subplots, unique and detailed settings, or research that translates into unexpected facts sprinkled in. Whatever it is, my stories do seem to translate into something even first time romance readers enjoy! Nothing makes me happier than to read a review from a reader who was surprised by how much the story touched him or her.

And, please realize that your reviews on Amazon are GOLDEN to indie authors, so I always encourage readers to leave a sentence or two after you've read an ebook!

My debut ebook, HOMECOMING-a Wisconsin Reunion Romance, now has over 200 5-star reviews, averaging 4.6 stars out of 5. It also was a 2013 Quarter-Finalist in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest and garnered a very nice review from Publishers Weekly!).

I am thrilled with readers' responses to my stories and I'm 100% hooked on writing more ebooks! You'll find 2 more romances on my Janet Wellington author page (UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL, COWBOY FOR SALE), and a women's fiction novel (BECOMING LULU). And, for fun, I created a pictorial ebook that features all the cats I met during a trip to Italy where I spoke at the Women's Fiction Festival in Matera (CATS OF ITALY/GATTI d'ITALIA). What's to come? I'll be sharing more romances and some paranormals!!

Also, all my ebooks include a donation of my royalties to a designated charity, a different one for each ebook (my way to pay it forward!). For my ebooks I use the company name of Grantitude (grant + gratitude) Press, and you'll see the GP logo on each of my ebook covers. You're helping a great non-profit organization with each ebook you purchase--thank you!!

Another wonderful book from this author. The characters and story are charming and I absolutely loved the last chapter. That the setting includes an alpaca ranch was just icing on the cake for me.

I have loved this author's other books and really enjoyed this one too. It was a fun read with great characters and a wonderful story line of finding a second chance at love. Janet has become one of my favorite romance authors and I look forward to reading other books by her.

Having just finished a gripping, blood curdling, murder mystery I really wanted something light hearted, fun and quick to read, and this book did the trick! Of course the ending is inevitable, but that is exactly how this kind of book is supposed to end. Just a note to the author though - in the beginning Dirk's son's name is Jonathon and later in the book it is Sean - can the author edit this after publication?

I want to bid on a cowboy like Jared. WOW! what a great read.

First we have Lacey who is a Salon Manager set on working her way up the corporate ladder. She has been unlucky in love with her fiancee walking out on her to marry his secretary who was carrying his child. They immediately left town with his young son in tow, the son that Lacey had grown to love as her own. She has a list of what she wants in a man and at the top of the list he must not be a father. She can't risk her heart to a man and his child that may end up walking out on her. The heartbreak was too severe and she swears not to go through it again.

Then there is Jared, the very handsome and sexy alpaca rancher who fills in as a guitarist with a very popular local band whenever he is needed. He has a five-year-old daughter and is divorced from his wife who chose her career over her husband and child. He has his own list of requirements and the main one being NO career minded women...ever!

One evening Lacey's friends insisted that she go dancing with them and wouldn't you know that hunky Jared was playing as a sub for the band. A sweet unanticipated dance was all it took for the sparks to fly.

If you like rugged cowboys and romance this is a must read. I highly recommend this book. This is the third Janet Wellington book I have read and so far they have all been super. Thank you Ms Wellington for great stories!

This was my 2nd Janet Wellington book and if possible I liked it even better than the first one I read! She has a special way of writing that makes her characters so real....along with the animals and children in each book.

The story started out great and kept my attention. But, then...it was done? They went from not being together to getting engaged and then an epilogue a year later...I felt like a big chunk of the story was missing.

I enjoyed the book, mostly. It was a fast read but thought the ending was too abrupt. Will wait awhile to read any others she may write.

Janet Wellington certainly has done her homework on this novel and takes you right to the San Diego area where this all happens. Every detail is there. She has such a unique talent in turning a phrase and makes each of her characters jump off the page. I am eagerly looking forward to her next book. Loved it!
