5.0 out of 5 stars MY FAVOURITE BOOK EVER!
They say never judge a book by it's cover. But that is precisely what I did with A Crack in Forever. At 20 years old whilst in the bookstore randomly one day I picked up this book because I thought the cover was pretty. I read the first chapter standing in the store and left intrigued.

A week or so later I was in the bookstore again with my Dad and showed it...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed from England
I thought this book was going to be good judging from the blurb on the cover. Suppose it was fairly well written, if very formulaic. Oh boy, those characters, how unreal can you get, as a former art student and incidentally a motorcycle pillion rider myself (sorry I havnt yet lived long enough to pop out and do a spot of plane sky writing in my spare time)I mean there is...

5.0 out of 5 stars MY FAVOURITE BOOK EVER!, September 27, 2005
This review is from: A Crack in Forever (Paperback)
They say never judge a book by it's cover. But that is precisely what I did with A Crack in Forever. At 20 years old whilst in the bookstore randomly one day I picked up this book because I thought the cover was pretty. I read the first chapter standing in the store and left intrigued.

A week or so later I was in the bookstore again with my Dad and showed it to him. When we walked out, he handed me a package and said 'suprise'. It was the book.

I think I read the book in the next couple of days - I found it very hard to put down. I lay on my bed and the tears streamed effortlessly down my face. I have never cried so much whilst reading a book either before or since. Upon finishing the book, I went to help my Mum with dinner. I was still sobbing and she was most concerned.

I have lent this book to many friends and recommended it to countless others. Each of them have experienced the same love for the characters and the gut-wrenching pain at the end.

I only wish Jeannie Brewer would write more. I have searched for more of her works for the past 8 years only to find that she has written nothing else. arrrggghhh!

A truly beautifully written book. It felt so real.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking story!!, October 1, 2005
This review is from: A Crack in Forever (Paperback)
I've read hundreds of romantic novels but this is the first one in which I cried helplessly while reading the last 40 pages. I don't have enough words to make you understand how this book made me feel, I just can say that if you like love stories, you won't be able to put this book down until the end.

There is just one problem: Jeannie Brewer hasn't written anything else, so take the maximum profit of this reading and prepare yourself for a long journey to the mysteries of the human soul!

4.0 out of 5 stars Engrossing Story, October 16, 2004
This review is from: A Crack in Forever (Paperback)
A Crack in Forever is a unique story of a couple who is dealing with AIDS. We get to see them before the diagnosis, and after. We get to see her point of view, and can vividly imagine his. Most of all, we see a different type of love story. I'm hesitant to call it JUST a love story, but especially the first half, you can't ignore the romantic side amidst the tragedy.

Over-all I loved the book. It was a quick read at only 300 pages- perfect length for the story told. I enjoyed the characters, who I did NOT feel were stereotypical at all- and I read constantly. The only thing I would have liked to see more of was relationships with other people developed more. We got to see the couple, Eric & Alex, we met their parents, siblings, friends- but we didn't really get to know the other people. However, the vivid descriptions of feelings and surroundings made up for what was lacking. There were sentences & paragraphs I felt like highlighting, they moved or touched me so.

I'd definitely recommend this book to someone. Although, if you're not comfortable with AIDS, as some reviewers didn't seem to be, this might be a book to skip.

5.0 out of 5 stars I cried so hard, August 3, 2004
This review is from: A CRACK IN FOREVER: A Novel (Hardcover)
I cried so hard. This book is the only book i have ever known to make me cry. I could not stop crying. I love this book and it touched me in a way no other book has. This book is worth your money and worth your time. Its a very quick read but a very moving one at that. I thought it would be a really bad novel, but once i got into it it was okay. Eric has AIDS i couldn't believe it. I wont give away any part of the story. You wouldnt understand it anyways. Read the book. Think about it.

5.0 out of 5 stars You can't help but fall in love with this book!, April 21, 2004

This review is from: A CRACK IN FOREVER: A Novel (Hardcover)
Just....amazing. I was so touched when I read this book. Jeannies style of writing makes the charachters seem so real to the reader. Her descriptions jump of the page, you feel as if you actually know Alex and Eric. I needed an entire box of kleenex and the book so so worn out as Ive leant it to anyone that will take it off me. Excellent book, a must read!!

Wow. About the only word I can think of that can describe this amazing story of love, journey, and death. From first meeting to final good-bye, Brewer has readers hooked to know the path these two lovers are about to go down. I own this book and have read it many many times. Amazing!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly amazing, September 6, 2002
This review is from: A Crack in Forever (Paperback)
Wow, what can I say? For her first novel, Jeannie Brewer has really outdone herself. The reality and truthfulness of this breath-taking story can only indicate that Jeannie Brewer felt every single word she wrote.
I felt every bit of emotion jump right out of the page and hit me. I first borrowed this book from the library when I was just 15. Since then, I have brought my own copy and have read it several times. The unconditional love you observe between Alex and Eric makes you feel so incredibly hopeful and content.
I love this story, I love the characters, I love the sadness, I love the happiness, I love the hope. Somebody should make a film!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book, July 21, 2001

Sabrina (Clawson, MI USA) - See all my reviews
I read the book called "A Crack In Forever" recently. I picked it up from a used book store, thinking it wouldn't be as good as my Sandra Brown novels I love from [bookstore]. Yet, A Crack In Forever is by far the most touching story I have read in my life. It not only gives you insight to the truest of love but to feelings of loss and struggle unknown to the average man. I would reccomend A Crack In Forever to anyone - not only a romance story lover, but to a normal person looking for a wonderful book - with a heartbreaking look at reality.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for every friend!, December 22, 1999
By
I read this book in early 1997 and it was the most exciting and capturing novel I had ever read, I just couldnt put it down, the story is so alive and real that I just wanted more, I then had to pass the novel on and on to all my friends and acquaintences and now I wouldn't have a clue who has it, I will re-read it now that I can get another copy thru Amazon, a modern and wonderfully emotional story for all. I still await another novel equal to it's style by this talented author.

4.0 out of 5 stars A crack in forever, December 11, 1999
I found the book abandoned in the nook of my friend's apartment, thought it wouldn't be too much of something, but it turned out to be one of the better-than-average romance book I have ever read, heart-wrenching and realistic, the novelist surely is good at spinning romantic yarns, but there were flaws in the book (doesn't every novel! ), some chapters seemed to be wasting time and too slow paced. however, if you are a reader of romance books, I would recommend "A crack in forever".
