One of the nice things about contact cleaner is that it cleans other things besides electrical contacts.

Besides the fact that this cleaner really works, he also like how quickly it dries as that gets him back on course again with minimal downtime.

I had an old receiver that needed some contacts cleaned on various switches and potentiometers. There's not much to say other than the contact cleaner did the job and the receiver is working like new again.

Our teenage son has been running and racing remote control cars and trucks for years, and after every few races (or a few hours of bashing around), he likes to break down the car and give it a full cleaning... shocks, transmission, motor, and everything else in between.

This Quick Dry Electronic Cleaner has become his primary cleaner for cars with brushed motors; he will really give the motors a good shot of this stuff to wash out the dirt and any residual brush pieces, then let it dry, put a couple drops of oil on the shaft bushings, and off he goes again!

Besides the fact that this cleaner really works, he also like how quickly it dries as that gets him back on course again with minimal downtime.

Good stuff. Good deal. Highly recommended.

I am cleaning up some old arcade video games (Robotron, Space Invaders, Asteroids, etc.) They had been sitting in a basement for some years and need a lot of work. During the process, it is necessary to inspect and secure each connection inside the cabinet. One of the nice things about contact cleaner is that it cleans other things besides electrical contacts.

Shop vacs can induce a static charge, wire brushes can damage board traces and insulation. Canned air helps but will not lift the grime that leaves old boards and their components just about opaque. Isopropyl Alcohol works but if it is only 70 or 80 percent, then the balance is water which leaves you with drying time and question marks - is it COMPLETELY dry? Contact cleaner does the job nicely.

Though there are many alternatives, nothing cleans up old crusty boards like a few good shots of contact cleaner. ROM's, capacitors and ICs are now all readable.

I use this to clean the potentiometers and bath the boards on my Vintage 1970's Marantz receivers I work on and collect. It's bigger and way cheaper than a crappy little can of $25+ DeOxit and does the same exact thing if not better. I get mine at Ace Hardware for $8 a can.

CRC QD Contact Cleaner is a more versatile product than the name implies. This type of product goes back to the days when TVs had a mechanical switch to manually change channels. Over time the switch would get dirty and that could adversely affect the picture. Spraying on a contact cleaner and working the switch a number of times usually cleaned it and cured the problem. The very big advantage of a product like the CRC QD Contact Cleaner is, and was, it left no residue. That means it can be used for cleaning grease and oil off any number of things. Spray it on, wipe it off with a cloth such as a piece of cotton tee shirt, and the item is clean with no residue left as would be the case with most products that clean off grease and oil. A good example that might never occur to you is a model railroad layout. After a time, the tracks typically get a film of oil on them from operating the model trains. This is an excellent product to clean the track. Spray it on a cloth and wipe the track. It works great for this use. I'm sure there are a number of other places where this product is useful. It is a case of using your imagination rather than getting locked in to thinking that it is only good for one thing due to its name.

This is a good product. I use to use the similar product from Radio Shack, but swithed to this one recently. It does just what it advertised. Worth the money, highly recommended.
