Book Description

September 17, 2003
On a rainy, freezing night, in an isolated lake house, a door suddenly creaks open upstairs-where nobody is supposed to be. So begins best-selling Andrea D'Allasandra's latest masterpiece of terror and suspense-The Creaking Door and Other Tales of Madness and Horror. If you dare, journey through these thirteen stories of psychos, zombies and houses that drip blood-where a creaking door is only the beginning of a stream of white-knuckled nightmares. A dead child who returns to haunt her monstrous mother a homicidal hitchhiker who thinks he's found his new victim a woman who discovers there are prehistoric dragons in her own backyard an old house that swallows up its visitors. Encounter thirteen heroines who you'll never forget-the evil, the innocent and the doomed. Andrea D'Allasandra's other three thrillers-Death House, Horror House and The Master of Hell Mountain-have all become international best-sellers!

5.0 out of 5 stars Andrea D'Allasandra Strikes Again!, October 1, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: THE CREAKING DOOR: And Other Tales of Madness and Horror (Paperback)
I just received this book from a friend and read it on the plane and couldn't put it down. The stories are great! D'Allasandra's use of l3 women in l3 stories is brilliantly realized. The tales range from psycho Moms and horribly haunted houses. They all take place mostly in the South and I never put the book down once I started. My favorite tale was the first one, the title story, The Creaking Door. I couldnt' sleep. If you like your stories original, scary with surprise endings, this one is great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific chills!, October 5, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: THE CREAKING DOOR: And Other Tales of Madness and Horror (Paperback)
This is the first book I've read by Andrea D'Allasandra but it was a real scare-fest! The l3 stories are fresh, off-beat and each has a shocker of a ending. Like "X-Files" or "Twilight Zone" stuff. The l3 women in each story are so totally believable and when that horrible mother in 'Stay Away, Little Girl' finally got her's at the end, I whooped and cheered. Many of these stories take place in Wilmington, N.C., a place I've visited many times. The author recreates this place so vividly. Another story I enjoyed was the last one, 'The Haunted House'and I've seen houses like this one. The story that really jolted me was 'Deadly Pick-up.' Just when you think you've got it all figured out, there's that shocker ending. Good, weird stories, great atmosphere and completely believable characters.
