3.0 out of 5 stars unfortunate ending
i don't know why it took me so long to give my opinion but this last book in the series simply didn't satisfy me. the wrap up just wasn't what i had hoped it would be. i do understand it but it's sad to think that Sita basically sacrified all that was a 5,000 year old life for all of mankind and balance out the power of good & evil. i guess i'm just disappointed. as i...

5.0 out of 5 stars Mixed feelings about the ending, September 12, 1999

I started reading The Last Vampire series when it first came out, and I remember checking the bookstore everytime the next installment was going to be available! Although I'm an adult now (although I was wee a preteen when the series started), I've still reread most of the installments. It's truly amazing how Pike manages to flesh out such a complete characterization. Talk about exposition.

Another amazing thing is how each installment ties in so fluidly with each other and yet they stand alone with their own plot, be it her story with Ray or Joel, or her daughter. I do have to say my preference is with the first three, although all were wonderful. I'm just a sucker for the love stories, and the tragedy that comes with it, of course.

I haven't reread this one, Creatures of Forever, in awhile, but I was a bit disappointed at the end. Although it was a very well-written book (although completely obscure at this point unless you've read the entire series, which you should anyway...) I wished it wouldn't have ended the way it did. I don't want to give it away, but I did get the feeling of "she went through all of this then for what?" I wish the last paragraph was left out, basically. Pike probably ended it the way he did because it was the only way *to* end the series without being tempted to continue on. Still, it's great escapism. If you're a young woman, you will identify with Sita, and it's incredibly easy to imagine yourself in her situation.

I love the wit and humor Pike uses. It's very unlike a "YA novel" since most, like R.L. Stine, seem completely ludicrous (dialogue, especially) when you read them over the age of 15. Pike, on the other hand, doesn't pander to the lowest (or youngest) common denominator; the writing is every bit as good as any "adult" novel I've read.

You might be disappointed after reading this, if only because you'll wish there were more to the series. I can't believe they haven't adapted this to a movie or tv series, especially with the success of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (which I highly recommend if you enjoy this genre).

5.0 out of 5 stars Remarkable!!! A definate 10!!!, July 21, 1999

Of all the books I've read, this one probably makes me think the most, but then all of Mr. Pike's books make me think. I agree with Mr. Pike when he says that me believes Sita herself wrote the story and not him. Although you are a talented author, I don't see how you could have come up with so many different twists in this book, but then what do I know?

I cried at the end of this book, like I did with Evil Thirst. Mr. Pike made me question everything I believe in. And I thank him for that. I would like to see another author try and make a believable character as well as Mr. Pike did. I doubt it will ever be done. Sita seems so much a part of life, that you would expect to find her if you looked for her. But I think there is a little bit of her in most people, because she shows human nature: which is to fear and hate what it does not understand. I wish this series was made into a movie, so that we could really see Sita.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, March 23, 2000

This book was great. I have read all the Last Vampire books and they were all brilliant. The end was just sooooo sad. It was just perfect though. This series really put me on to the subject of vampires. Pike made such a great character with Sita. I really love how she is so strong. This book is the last in a terrific series. I loved them all so much, I bought them all! If you haven't read them, you should!

5.0 out of 5 stars An end worth reading, January 27, 2001

It's amazing how a book can make you think so much. If you haven't the vampire series, don't read this, it won't make sense. But if you have, this is the book of a lifetime. The ending, which I won't give away, is not what you would expect. At first I was disapointed, and stunned, but then I cried. Sita gave us another surprise. I don't know how Pike thinks of these things, he must be a genius. Anyway, once again we hear a story of Sita's past, but this time it is a little different. She must make a choice, which isn't between heaven and heck, as the cover implies. Although you may be a little confused, it will all make sense. If you liked Seymour (who was my favorite), the epilouge is incredibly, unbeleivably sad.I always liked Krishna and the compassion he gave Sita, and this book tops it all off. Basically it is an ending you will never forget. Although I read it a few monthes ago, I still almost cry when I think about it. I think I always will.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrif, July 13, 2000
Like the reviews before mine, I'll have to agree with them; the ending was amazing. Pike was absolutely brilliant in writing this book. Although it was terribly sad story, I felt happiness for Sita at the end, for she got what she wanted. Anyone who enjoys Pike should read the whole vampire series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible book!, January 23, 2000

The Last Vampire series is by far the best groop of books that I have ever read. They are so captivating that I could barely ever put them down."Creatures of Forever" is an unbelievable conclusion to Christopher Pike's thrilling series, it had such a good ending because it left me satisfied with the results. I've read the entire series twice, and I would even read it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars unspeakable!, September 30, 1999

This book is fantastic! Words alone cannot describe how The Last Vampire series has affected me, and to think I cried after reading this book. It pains me to see that Sita ended it like that, and I wondered about all the future adventures, people, and experiences she would never see/meet/live....

But I do see this as a potential hit movie! With special effects it could do wonders!! Especially when Sita's blood mends her torn-apart body! Also, it has an extremely touching storyline, besides the action, and that would make a fabulous movie in my opinion!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this series!!!, July 19, 2005
I remember I first read this series in middle school at age 13. I am now finishing college and still am obsessed with this series. It was awesome writing and kept me on the edge of my seat to the very end. It had a great romance and stirred a fire in me. I couldn't put the books down. I recommend this series to any young readers and even the young at heart.

I thought that Pike couldn't have written it better. The whole damn series was absolutley amazing. I loved the ending....even though it was sad. It just closed up the series even though I wished he would have made a 7th and 8th and so on......Thank you Pike for writing these books! I really wish I could hear more adventures of Sita though :(

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, November 5, 2001
I'm an avid reader and I am fascinated with fictional beings. Horror novels being my favorite. Christoper Pike has a wonderful imagination and writes about everything fantastic and horrific that someone like me would like. Vampires are one of my favorite subjects and this series takes you into the world of a beautiful and dangerous female vampire as she moves through her life meeting up with people who she knew hundreds of years back in her search for her maker, Yaksha. All the books by Christopher Pike are ones that you can't put down. This is a must have series for any book collection.
