I couldn't find a window zipper at any of the hardware stores in my area. Amazon was the only place I could find it! It came quickly and was just the right tool for the job. Highly recommended for opening painted-shut windows, and probably useful for other projects too.

You can't see it very well in the photo, but the metal piece is attached to the handle at an angle, making it very easy to slip it into the space between the window and the frame. This is part of what gives this tool a huge advantage over using a putty knife or razor.

The tool does the work for you, so it doesn't require excessive force that might break or damage the window (or you!).

We had several wood frame windows over 20 years old that over time had been painted shut, including two front windows that had been double painted by my wife and our handyman each unbeknownst to the other. After researching on the Internet and reading the reviews, I ordered the Window Zipper and am I glad we did. The flexible tool is ideal for punching through the paint around the sash and frame. One must take care and go slowly in order not to damage the wood, but it is easy to use. We were able to open the double painted windows by using the Window Zipper and a pry bar from the outside and the upstairs windows just by using the Window Zipper. At first my wife was skeptical, but she is now a fan, this is a tool we will keep for posterity. I highly recommend this tool for anyone who has windows painted shut.

After buying a 105 year old house with multiple windows painted shut, I was at my wit's end. I tried everything from utility and putty knives to screwdrivers and chisels. This bad boy got the first window open in just a few minutes! You do need to be a little careful not to score the window frame but once you get the technique down it's a breeze.

Awesome product!

This thing does not work, only make a big mess. Definitely would not recommend. a butter knife would have worked better.

I found the tool very useful for stuck wooden windows.I also used thin putty knives and a small bar also to help unstick the wooden windows.

this tool while, it make look flimsy, has become and indispensable tool for my 'windows' project. I have a 8 double hung windows all painted shut, with hard as a rock glazing, with a hundred years worth of paint to boot. I also have a door with two tall side light windows all painted shut. So far with the tool I have un-jammed and finished three of the double hung windows, I was able to remove all the glazing without breaking any of the glass, and un-jammed my two side light doors. the tool is still in good shape, five more windows to go, i'd say i'm half way through my project, i doubt i could be as effective without this little tool.
