I love my ION pen because of its size and because I know that it will not open in my pocket and ruin my pants. The ink cartridges are really poor: I have yet to see one get empty before failing, and sometimes they fail quite early. If they can't make good cartridges, they should buy them from someone who can.

A few years ago, Cross came out with this model of pen. It was great because it fit on a key chain or neck lanyard. I am forever signing things and could never find a pen when I needed one (don't ask about the 5,000 pens in my desk drawer!) so having one on my ID lanyard was a great idea. Unfortunately, the tip of the pen was flawed. If you leaned up on something the pen popped out of the holder cap and it was lost forever. These pens are not cheap. Funny enough, I always managed to find mine, but stopped wearing it after only several weeks--I was tired if having to look for it.

This new one though seems to fix that problem by offering a redesigned tip. I've had this exact model for six months and have not lost it yet. The first ink cartridge lasted about five months but refills can be had cheaply on Amazon, Office Depot, etc. Another good thing about it is that the tip is the end that locks into the cap...so no worrying about getting ink spots all over your pen (a problem I had when I tried other clip-on pens).

It opens and closes easily. I have not used it to write much more than my signature and a few jotted notes at those meetings at work in which I was not quick (or smart) enough to get out of attending. The grip is comfortable and the ink comes out clear and smooth.

I love the style of the pen. The gel cartridges fail, making the pen useless, however. I had several colors of gel ink and all stopped working shortly after I purchased the pen. Better to stick to a ball point pen than gel ink (which I've never had good luck with, regardless of brand). It's great while it works but don't count on it working for long.
