Product Description

This CS Hyde UHMW polyethylene tape attaches with rubber adhesive backing to provide surface protection, as well as friction and noise reduction, and for lining chutes, conveyors, drawers, and other sliding surfaces. The tape's ultra-high molecular weight (UHMW) polyethylene surface resists abrasion and impact for use in packaging applications. The UHMW polyethylene tape also has anti-stick and low friction properties for a slippery yet protective surface that enables sliding ease and reduces noise in packaging applications. To attach securely to surfaces, the tape has 0.005" thick pressure-sensitive rubber adhesive backing. This tape has a maximum tensile strength of 18 and a temperature range of 32 to 150 degrees F for use in above-freezing conditions. The 4-3/4"-diameter roll of tape provides 18 yards of 1" tape.

CS Hyde Company manufactures high-performance plastics products such as films, adhesive tapes, fabrics, silicone sheets, threads, and cords. The company, founded in 1996, is headquartered in Lake Villa, IL.

This stuff is great as a UHMW tape with an adhesive backing. The model in my review is in fact a thin (0.025") strip of UHMW perfect for making jigs slippery and acting as a friction-free shim tape. Amazon offers several other sizes, though they don't specify the thickness. My recommendation is to go to the CS Hyde website and translate the model numbers into your product specs, then come back and search for the part number (if you need a specific size).

I bought this tape to use on wooden drawers in a vintage wood cabinet. Stuck it to the wooden slides on the bottoms of the drawers as well as where they rest on the wood slides inside the cabinet. It worked like a charm. No more sticking or squeaking. The drawers glide right out and back again. Definitely worth the money, and I plan to use it on the kitchenful of drawers that stick.

This tape is fantastic. I used it on the drawers in my crappy goodwill bureau. Now they slide in and out like they're made out of hardwood, instead of plywood, no more squeaky, annoying difficulty.

I can't wait to use it on the other stubborn drawers in my apartment. This tape really does make a huge difference, I wish I had heard about it earlier.

This is perfect for mouse skate/feet replacements. A sleeper indeed. After some extensive research I find this UHMW material much slicker and durable than the common marketed Teflon tapes for mouse feets. (IE CS Hyde Teflon Mouse Tape, Tan Color, 0.5" x 5 yds) UHMW material has better abrasive resistance, meaning they last longer and this tape is also thicker. I would say this UHMW ta;e a little less than 1mm thick but noticably thicker than the Teflon counterpart which may or may not be a disadvantage if your mouse laser or optics can handle that extra lift from the mat/desk.

In addition, this product is 3.6 times longer and only about 2 times the cost than the teflon counterpart I linked above. Better value if you need or want to stock. I doubt you'll go through this UHMW roll of tape in your life time....but hey you never know until you try! Also, I have found this useful for sliding furniture around. Just stick them under and watch it slide!

The Andersen 200 series horizontal slider windows are a fairly high end replacement window product with a problem. The window slider mechanisms eat up the fibrex pultruded fiberglass window channel that the window slides upon. Replacement of the slider mechanisms and fibrex window tracks is a huge labor expense especially if you have a large number of these horizontal sliders to replace and they are OOW (Out of Warranty). So CS Hyde UHMW tape to the rescue! I waited six months before this write up to see if a big change in seasons (100F to 10F outside) would affect the tape bond and function but nope! The tape is still providing an easy glide without spalling or visible wear. Just buy a roll or two, clean your tracks thoroughly with a strong spray cleaner and wipe down the dust and dirt before applying the tape. Takes about 10 minutes per window and 6 of those 10 minutes is spent cleaning the track to assure a strong contact bond. One or two rolls vs. a couple of thousand dollars in OOW work. It's your call. I made mine already.

I'm a novice woodworker who hasn't mastered the art of building perfectly square drawers yet. So when I built a queen size storage bed for my daughter which featured six massive drawers, I was a bit intimidated to use drawer slides. Instead, I just put down a couple of spacing blocks, ran the tape along the tops and voila! Perfectly sliding drawers that are working great! My daughter uses one of the drawers to hold mass quantities of magazines, and the weight is not causing the drawers to bind up. A nice slide every time. Cool product!

This does work well. You really have to make sure you have the surface your applying it to is super-duper clean. If you can't get it to stick, use contact cement on the surface you are putting it on. This is rare however.

I built my wife a dresser with drawers 2' deep 4' wide and 6" tall. At the time I didn't use regular drawer glides and was very upset when I went to use the drawers for the first time. Naturally, I didn't want to take the dresser apart, so we just struggled for years using them with the wooden glides on each side. WOW was I surprised when I came across this product. I had "hoped" it would work, but you know how some products sound a lot better than how they actually work. Guess what? This product is about 150% BETTER than stated. It took me about 10 minutes total to take the 4 drawers out, put the tape on, put the drawers back in and then SMILE SMILE SMILE!! My wife has pain in each wrist from working, and she couldn't believe how easy it was to pull the drawers out now. I might have to put stops on the back side just so she doesn't pull them all the way out by mistake. The glides I had made are "L" shaped, so I put the tape on the bottom and sides to make it even easier to slide. No hang up at all. I can also tell you that the drawers are HEAVY with clothes, and they still slide with ease. Bottom line - - BUY THIS PRODUCT!!
