I believe this is really 0.002 inches thick (2 mils) and not 0.002 millimeters (2 microns). Someone was confused about systems of measurement! Mils (0.001 inches) are not the same as millimeters.

In any case for those who need the conversion: 0.002 inches (2 mils) equals 0.051 millimeters (51 microns).

This type of tape was suggested as an alternative to using the preferred method of thin super glue when applying the plastic wrap patterns on a very expensive Saturn V model rocket produced by Apogee Rocketry.

I was at just that stage in my build when I got cold feet as for a trying the preferred super glue technique. One can easily melt and ruin the plastic wraps when using super glue if you experience just one misstep or squirt out too much glue at once.

At this point I decided to stop construction and buy an Este's model Saturn V, which cost less that one third as much at about $150 to use as a "practice run". I did try the super glue technique with reasonable results on a wrap or two, but decided to try this tape to compare the results to as a safer alternative.

This tape simply rocks. One reason that the super glue method was preferred (according to the instructions of the Apogee Saturn V) is that the thickness of the tape would cause an unsightly gap at the juncture of the wrap. NOT. I don't know if it was the thinness of this particular brand or part number of tape that "made the difference", but thankfully, it made no difference in this regard. Another concern author of the instructions had concerned the tape's long-term adhesive properties. First of all, it appears to be a super-strong and tight bond. Secondly, I used a similar product (albeit 3M brand) to apply thin wood grain to the dash of my truck over 10 years ago, and let me just say that that stuff is not going to come off in my life-time.

For my application, using this superb "double sided tape" is definitely the way to go, so not to risk melting the medium that you are trying to bond.

I used this to replace rubber grips on Nikon lenses and bodies. Works very good and is about as hard to remove as the original transfer adhesive Nikon used.

I spend around $2,000 a month on Amazon. This is the most Deceptively and INACCURATELY described and the WORST product I have ever purchased here. It is not 2mm. It is surely not Very High Bond in fact it is ZERO BOND. Go online and see its fact sheet. It is an almost invisible .002 mm. It is not really a 2 sided tape where two sides need to be peeled off. What is totally bizarre. I cleaned a piece of metal as the fact sheet I found online detailed. (No instructions come with the tape) . The "filmy" side of the tape does not stick to any metal, plastic, stone or any surface. Before buying I feared it would have rivet strength and I'd need to be very careful. No worries it won't stick anywhere or bond anything. It is as effective as trying to bond two surfaces by placing Saran Wrap between them, closing your eyes and making a wish on the first star you see tonight. WORTHLESS!. Scam! Trust Me!
