This squirrel away is made from Capsicum peppers, known colloquially where they are grown as bird peppers. Powder to add to 25 pounds of wild bird seed. Does not harm squirrels or birds. Capsaicin, the naturally occurring substance in capsicum peppers that makes the hot pepper so spicy, is distasteful to mammals. Squirrels will not eat the seed, but it does not repel wild birds. With Squirrel Away treated bird seed in your bird feeders, a squirrel quickly learns not to visit and continues to find a new source of food. This product weighs 1.5 ounces.

I mixed a 2.5 lb batch of birdseed with this stuff and I followed the directions to a T (add oil, wait 20 min, etc). This simply does not work. My squirrels weren't even phased, they just munched away on my birdseed like nothing had happened. So, I doubled the amount of Squirrel Away. The squirrels still ate it. Then, I tripled the amount of Squirrel Away. The squirrels *still* ate it.

Bottom line: Squirrel Away simply doesn't work. Save your money.

Don't waste your time and money on this product. Even if it were offered to you for free it is still to expensive. If I could give this product less than a single star I would.

I followed the directions per the label and put it out waiting to see the squirrel's little face screw up in discomfort. Much to my disappointment the squirrel had no reaction. Or maybe the reaction is they like the birdseed flavored with this stuff better than unflavored bird feed.

I have used Cole's hot bird seed in the past and it clearly elicits a reaction from the squirrels - they do not like it and stay away. This additive is nothing like the that.

When you look under product details it says 3.6 lbs. In reality you are paying $7 for 1.5 oz. What a ripoff!!!!! The product works pretty good on squirrels, but I was looking for a fair deal, this is not one.
