last review gave the book a one because it's a comic book. ? i dont blame him for being surprised but idw is a comic book company and the book is under graphic novels. anywho, my girlfriend got me this for valentine's day because she knows im a huge csi fan and a bit of a comic book geek. so far it's pretty good. wat got me was cover art. that is one awesome cover art. it's sketchy and dark like idw's 30 days of night, also good comic. but when i turned the page i see the artwork and it just doesn't seem right. brass looks plain scary, the women's lips are like fish lips just the facial expressions just don't really seem right compared to other books. but the artwork from the cover comes back when the murders are being reenacted. thats a plus cause it dark and brooding like a murder should be. the story is also really good. a copycat killer on the loose in vegas. and he's copying jack the ripper. i like it. really is a page turner. but im taking back again by not just the character's faces but there dialogue. Grissum loves to make references to poetry or bugs in the show and he doesn't always explain things out in the open. it's great. but it was pretty hard to swallow when he was randomly making a rolling stone reference when one wasn't needed and just end up explaining why he knows so much on jack the ripper. in the end i give it a three. get it if your a fan of the show. like me. but dont get it if your a die hard fan otherwise the books will just tick you off. haven't finished the series but looking forward to find out who jack the ripper is.
