4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Game Similar to the Other CSI Games
I've played all of the CSI games and enjoyed all of them - the one glaring exception being the CSI: NY game. CSI: Deadly Intent is one of the best. While most of the others were noticeably buggy, I did not notice any bugs in this game. Graphics in the game are improved, although could still be better. 3.0 out of 5 stars Good game
I found the game easy to install. For those that are concerned, ubisoft says this game has been tested to be comptabale with Windows 7, but they make no gurantees. I had no problem running it on Vista or Windows 7. Windows XP SP3 is a free download for XP owners of legit XP operating systems. If you have an OEM operating System (came with your computer) you will need the...

I've played all of the CSI games and enjoyed all of them - the one glaring exception being the CSI: NY game. CSI: Deadly Intent is one of the best. While most of the others were noticeably buggy, I did not notice any bugs in this game. Graphics in the game are improved, although could still be better. The stories were fun - not as long as they could have been, but still entertaining.

The major downside is the cases in this game are notably less challenging than previous games. I played through the entire game without once having to rely on a walkthrough, while all of the previous games required at least referencing a walkthrough, or in some cases relying heavily on one. The game seemed fairly short - maybe 1-2 hours of game play per case. This game also includes mini games for checking the DNA and other evidence in the lab, which made the lab work a little more interesting than the previous games.

Real gamers may be a little disappointed, but fans of the show will enjoy it (note the shout out to Warrick Brown in the game.) I would recommend this to someone with little gaming experience who has an interest in CSI, forensics or both, as well as those who enjoy the point and click detective games. Overall, CSI: Deadly Intent is a fun game with room for improvement, but worth the money. Grade: B

Pros:
*Better graphics than previous games
*Strong storylines

Cons:
*Too short
*Not challenging enough

5.0 out of 5 stars Best CSI game yet!, October 28, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: CSI: Deadly Intent (DVD-ROM)
After reading the last person's review, I too have to say that I had a bit of trouble installing the game as in the autoplay wouldn't come up and I had to prompt it and then wait five to ten minutes for it to load. It was a bit irritating, but it was eventually installed. You do have to check the SP version of your computer though (I don't really know what this MEANS, but if you have Windows XP, you need SP3 and if you have Vista, the game is only supported under SP1) before buying the game, though! With that being said, here is my review of the game.

I thought it was by far the best CSI game yet. I've played them all multiple times and was really excited for the release of this one, especially after the disappointment that came from CSI: NY's seek and find nonsense. The graphics are a LOT more advanced and if you have the latest graphics card for your computer, they are going to come up really well. Be warned though: you really have to WORK in this game. When you are looking for a fingerprint, it isn't outlined in white like it used to be. Granted if you pass over the space where the fingerprint is, the cursor will turn into a blue toolbox letting you know that it's there, but you have to scan the entire surface of items to find that print. Also, when you go to Brass for a warrant/interrogation request, you will always need supporting evidence to back your claim and you have to choose from your evidence what ties to your reasoning. When you're interrogating a suspect, you can often catch someone in a lie by providing this evidence as backup for your question.

The cases are highly unique and are all packed with twists and turns, especially the last one! In my past experience, the last case in CSI games usually ties the other 4 cases together, but case 5 in this was completely unique which I loved. Overall, the game was excellent. It was a long wait for it, but it was well worth it! I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Welcome Back, CSI, October 29, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: CSI: Deadly Intent (DVD-ROM)
I was thrilled to see the production of CSI:Deadly Intent back in the capable hands of Telltale Games after last year's CSI:NY fiasco. Nothing wrong with an object hunt game, but why Ubisoft decided to reinvent a successful series I will never know.

Anyway, this installment mirrors the changes in the TV show at the time of its development. We've said a sad farewell to Grissom, Warrick and Sara and hello to Agents Langston and Adams (there's even what I consider an "in-joke" about replacements at the beginning of Case #1). Catherine Willows is your new supervisor and recently promoted Nick Stokes checks up on you. We have sleek, new labs with updated equipment and very, very tough cases.

What else is new? This time around, you'd better know why you're asking for a warrant and why you're challenging a suspect's statements. The way you analyze evidence is more complicated, particularly matching fingerprints (a major sticking point for people like me who don't bother to play the training level or read the manual ... oops). Your evaluation at the end of a case is based on percentages and you'd better not make a mistake along the way if you want to be perfect.

The upside? Multiple locations to visit and search, interesting cases, hard-to-find evidence, 3-D graphics, and cut scenes and music from the TV show.

The downside? Your forensic toolkit is limited and you can only choose what will possibly work. You do not get a spoken evaluation from your supervisor but a list of percentages for skill, thoroughness and ... cunning? There's also a list of "awards" that seem more appropriate in a Nancy Drew game (I love the Nancy Drew games; it's just not a good fit for a CSI game). And I miss Griss LOL

I own all the CSI games and was excited for this one to arrive so I could get into it. The game controls were pretty good, the hints have a variable setting so you can get as much or as little help as you want. The graphics are good and the dialog nice. Overall this is a nice game - the only complaint - it is not longer.

I'm a big fan of all the CSI shows & games. This games does not dissapoint new high tech lab tools to use & new tem members. If you like solving crimes then this is for you. If your new to the series don't worry you can get all the help you need in learning how to use your tools & if you get stuck you can always ask help from your partner on the case. Lots of fun can't wait for the next one in series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard to know where this series can go.., December 29, 2009
By
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: CSI: Deadly Intent (DVD-ROM)
Like the reviewer below, I have played all 5 'real' CSI games and am getting a bit frustrated with how they haven't advanced the franchise very much in the last 3 games. These cases are a lot shorter than the ones in Hard Evidence and not as compelling as many earlier ones in the series. The final case in CSI Miami and the Cop-Killer case from the first game are examples of stories that were much more interesting and involving than any of those in Deadly Intent. I realise there are only so many ways for homicides to be performed, but if you compare the MO's of the deaths in this game with (for example) the case in Deadly Motives which had the jealous husband killing his actress wife using a bullet packed in ice to give the impression of being a larger calibre than it really was, you can see that they have pretty much run out of steam.

In a related area, almost 70 percent of actual homicides in the US are gun-related whereas in the 25 cases in the CSI series only 3 revolve around shooting incidents (I'm open to being wrong here, but off the top of my head I can only think of 3 shooting deaths). Now, some people may get bored with matching spent shells to hand guns..the last case in Hard Evidence was a bit over the top here..but I don't know why the developers have shyed away from the fact that most murders are committed with hand guns.

I still enjoyed playing the game, although I confess to giving up on the tough Manuscript Puzzle to help Nick Stokes in one of the cases but I didn't enjoy it as much as Dark Motives, which I will still pull out and replay every now and then, just for the fun of it.

The 3 suspects, 3 locations schtick is really old now, why can't the cases be expanded to 5 or 6 suspects?

The 'new' features are nice, but don't add a whole lot..having to present evidence to get a warrant is blindingly obvious in most cases, if you had to mix and match a few different items to get a stronger case it would be better. Also, the 'refute' the suspects statement option can just be ignored most of the time, although it affects your 'Cunning' rating. Helping your fellow CSI's is something different, but simply involves processing a single piece of evidence to crack the case for them..

By far the most annoying feature of this game is that when you match evidence in the lab you never get to see a static description of whatever it is you just found out, your partner just tells you, which isn't as immersive as having a screen full of descriptive notes.

One last gripe, the 'evaluation' is a don't blink or you miss it scrolling credit at the end of each case, which never reappears for you to check you score (as far as I can see).

If you've never played a CSI game before add a star to my rating, because you will probably have a blast, for old hands its just more of the same I'm afraid..but still a solid 3 stars, despite my reservations.

No spoilers here
Just a quick list of positives and negatives and 1 ending comment.

+Great graphics and sound
+Absolutely no problems during installation and gameplay
+fun and challenging gameplay with very interesting cases
+game length is adequate and I'll probably replay it in a year or two.
+characters talk and act like on the show

I have no negative comments(which is very rare).

I am glad that CSI returned to it's original gameplaying style. I like solving the cases myself and having that feeling of accomplishment at the end. CSI:NY was too boring. Hidden object games are ok, but not for CSI. I hope they make another one like Deadly Intent soon.

Loved playing this game and hearing the characters voices. The only complaint I have is that after a few hours of play the bottom of my laptop became very hot, and the game would freeze up at times.
