5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I use this level all the time and it is VERY accurate. I've built a house and a garage using it and even at 70 - 100' it is accurate to within 1/8 inch. You do have to be very careful when setting the level of the unit with the bubbles but after that it is a breeze. An indispensible tool for me and a great price for what you get.

I purchased my CST/Berger 57-LM30 leveling laser level package from Amazon on 7/20/08 and started using it the last of Sept. I was bragging to everybody that would listen about this amazing tool. My neighbor mentioned he had bought one and it stopped working and was in for repair, I should have listened. After no more than 20 hours, the cap on top that rotates stopped turning and all the lights started flashing. I walked over to my neighbor to show him and he said it is what his did. But he had his back and had saved the return box and I could use it to send mine back. I called the 800# and they gave me a return number. In talking to the rep. I learned this was not uncommon and was not reassured it would not happen again. My neighbor told me. I could use his so I proceeded with my work, for about 3 hours. The next day when I set it up, again, the top would not rotate and the lights flashed. He had used his for about 15 hours since receiving it and we are both very upset. Mine is in for repair. I have no confidence it will continue to work when I get it back and this is something they know about and continue to sell the instrument.CST Berger LaserMark LM30 Series Wizard Rotary Laser Kit - 57-LM30PKG

I'm a "do-it-yourselfer," not a professional. Have used this to design drainage system (swales, ditches, pipes) four 4 acre property. Also, in building house, used it to shoot level points from which to measure when installing siding. Everything has worked well for me ... probably 40+ hours of total operational time; maybe more than that.
Like the various "rotation" options. At first did not realize the value. When using the measuring stick and beeping sensor, the fast rotation worked great and allowed us to move all around property. However, when marking a wall in broad daylight the fast rotation was practically invisible. But you could use the "spot non-rotating" setting or "limited rotation" setting to shoot the beam along a level horizontal you wanted on the wall, and then mark wherever you wanted. Haven't tried using it in vertical orientation.

Con: wish it had a way to raise / lower the head slightly. Perhaps it is expensive to make such. Would be nice to be able to re-position at another time in the SAME orientation as previously. Ideal: rough set up with leg height adjustment and level. Then fine tune raise or lower +/- an inch to exact. Confirm level.
Actual: no way to "fine tune" raise/lower; have to do it all with the legs; in which each time you adjust, it changes the level.
Maybe a "self - leveling" one would solve this problem. If so, if you, like me, might like to re-create a position frequently, might consider self-leveling models.

The beeping receiver that fastens to the elevation ruler digs holes into the paint or the metal ruler and roughens it when tightening it to hold a position. I used a small circular stick-on felt furniture protector pad on the end of the clamp and found that works great and doesn't scar up the metal ruler, and allows you to slide it up or down more easily w/o totally releasing clamp.

Will use it for finishing all inside trim; leveling cabinets, etc., and drainage system for gutters.

Have had it over a year now; no problems.

I purchased this product about a month ago to set up a garage slab and it has worked flawlessly. I checked the calibration and it was spot on. Setting it up is easy, takes only a couple of minutes. It saved me a couple hours work by not having to run strings to check grade depth and worked great for setting the forms.
