4.0 out of 5 stars Good Tripod, Great Price
This tripod has everything you need to get to work. The quick clamp legs adjust easily and stay where you set them. This is an inexpensive tripod that I would not use for everyday use on a construction site, as I do not believe it would hold up to heavy use. But for a small project and with care, this will hold up for many years of use. Great for occasional use. As with...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not professional grade
I got this to use with a new laser level as my old one has vanished. I understand that I didn't choose several of the higher priced ones... it's hard to tell the difference online. This is VERY light and the leg extensions slide through plastic guides. The top is cast and the finish is not impressive. I feel uncertain about placing a $1000 laser on top of this. If...

As with all tools, take care of you tools and they will last..., throw this item in the back for you truck and the clamped legs will likely break off.

If you are a professional in the building trades, my suggestion is to get something more substantial.

We are full-time RV'ers and I wanted an easy-to-use tripod for my HD satellite dish. I fitted a threaded 2-inch diameter pipe nipple to a floor mount, drilled holes in it and the tripod and bolted the two together permanently.
"Steps" on each leg allow the pointed tips on each leg to be stabbed into soil and quick-release levers on each leg permit the nipple on the tripod to quickly be made vertical, essential for mounting the satellite dish.
Since these dishes are good sized, I use a screw-in dog tie-down and a stout shock chord to anchor the tripod, preventing the tripod from being toppled by winds, damaging the dish.
The tripod is light, just as easily collapsed and includes a handy strap to tie the legs together and sling the tripod over a shoulder for transport.
I am very pleased with the unit and expect the tripod to give me many years of trouble-free service.

3.0 out of 5 stars Tripod work OK with a little time to set up properly, August 25, 2011

I like this design but it is a little on the light side. That is good for carryting but not so good for stability in high winds. Some of the Plastic parts seem cheaply made so I am not sure how durable they will be after much Sun exposure and normal use. These type of tripods tend to be way overpriced so overall it was a good buy for the price compared to others on the market.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it should, at good price., May 26, 2011

The tripod arrived very quickly and had no apparent defects. It's very light weight, which is a plus or minus depending on how it is to be used....personally, when things work well, I consider a light tool a major plus----in short, it does what it needs to do without any problems, and the entire transaction was quick and flawless--I would buy from this seller again.

A nice tripod. I've had a sighting level for years but no tripod. I have always set the level on something but this really makes it portable. I have used this many times and it is very sturdy. A good buy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sun kills the sliders, March 22, 2010
This review is from: CST/Berger 60-ALQCI20-O 5/8-Inch 11-Threaded Flat Head Tripod (Tools & Home Improvement)
I received one of these as part of a package for receiving internet satellite service for my RV five years ago. It has worked like a charm. Light weight, easy to setup and easy to store for travel.
I hang a 5 gallon water jug from the center to protect against the wind. Some cheap suction cups will keep the legs from sliding on the blacktop. Never had a problem and we have been in some strong winds.

Only problem is that the sliders for the lower legs will oxidize, crack and break in the sun after a while. Next time I paint them with a UV resistant coating.
