I bought this shower radio at Restoration Hardware on clearance for $15. Their products are hyped as sturdy and long lasting. I don't think this one would fit that description, but I took it back so fast, I'll never know. The biggest problem is the "stereo" speakers. They're so tiny and cheap that you won't be able to hear them over the sound of a shower. If you crank the volume up, they will reverberate and blare a muddy static that will make the music/radio unrecognizable. That's why I'm taking this thing back. However, the radio did not work for me either. I got one station, briefly, but otherwise, silence. Also, the on/off switch does not stop on the middle radio position. It just slides back and forth. You never know if you've selected radio or not. Really disappointed in this because the concept seemed so good.

i was pleased with this item until it got wet, for a waterproof radio it didnt like water at all.

For the first few weeks I was extremely impressed with the product but after a month or two the volume knob stopped working and now I can't get any sound out of the unit. As another reviewer noted the radio tuning got more difficult as time went on, in the end it required constant adjustments to stay on a station.

While the compartment for the player keep water out, there is nothing sealing the battery compartment. I need to clean rust off the terminals more often then I need to change the batteries.
Also the cable for connecting the player is short and permanently attached.
Not bad for what you pay, but they should put a gasket on the battery door and charge a few bucks more.

This radio worked great in the beginning but went downhill fast. Tuning this radio is hard because the dial is overly sensitive. The speakers developed static after the first week. The volume started getting softer and softer shortly after that and eventually the volume dial wouldn't work at all. I never hooked a MP3 player so I can't attest to the quality of that feature.

Bought two of these for 16 and 13 y.o. boys. They use their Nano and Shuffle iPods in them and love them. My 16 y.o. believes his iPod Touch would fit; however, since the Nano is smaller, uses that instead.....

Can't wait to use them on our boat or at the beach! Great product at a great price.

This item is super. You can carry it with you or use it in the bathroom. The reception is great and adapts to most all MP3 players. Very much worth the money!

I imagined this item would be much smaller that it actually is. Works fine, but I have trouble picking up an AM signal. Also, there is no way to control the ipod once it is locked inside.

Neither the specs nor the other reviewers to date mention that this unit receives AM radio, which is important to me, since my local NPR news station is AM only. Like all AM radios, though, the unit has to be oriented perpendicular to a line from it to the broadcast tower. Fortunately the back wall of my shower, behind my shampoo shelf, is so oriented. Anyway, I bought it not for that feature, but to plug in my mp3 player, for which it also works quite well. Now I can take a shower whenever I want and don't have to schedule my shower just when something good is on the radio.

The battery door, whose apparent leaking was mentioned by another reviewer, is gasketed, despite what the other reviewer said. It looks like it would keep out water like other similar doors on similar products, but maybe it's not tight enough. It's held in place by a couple of clips, not screws, and there's no way to tighten it down firmly. My shampoo shelf where this thing sits, is at the back of the shower and well out of any streams of water, although it is humid enough. It's early days, but I'm not expecting any trouble with the battery door. If it materializes, I'll let you know. I think a bit of electrical tape around the door would solve the problem, but I can understand the resentment at having to wield it.

BTW, it's low tech, with real knobs for tuning and volume. It comes both with a cord to hang it, and a detachable tripod leg to set it tilted on a shelf. The sound quality is exactly what you'd expect from a shower radio. I can understand the spoken news programs I listen to; I do not intend to listen to opera or symphony in the shower.

For the cost, it does exactly what is expected. Great product. The only thing that I don't like is the inability to change the ipod channels while it is locked in the waterproof casing.
